  1. Welcome I see no problem with equipment on the side wall, longer cables/wires should make no difference. If it fits you and the room better no reason not to, I would say you could hear no difference with a 2 meter wire or a 20 meter wire.
  2. Sorry to hear this, it has been a rough year for you. He can rest now, after a long life with many accomplishments one of which is making it to 91 and a father plus a Veteran. RIP
  3. Almost forgot this part, your right it is nice to talk about this stuff, it is how I learned over the years, even if there is MUCH more I have no idea about than I think I know.
  4. True, I am one of those people. My 2 ch speakers are much better than my HT speakers, BUT I do not have room even in the 24' wide room to have something good enough to keep up with those as a center so I compromise and use 6 Forte 2s and 3s for HT. If the sub was smaller I would have room but there is no way I will do without this sub. The sub is in the center and a Forte stands in front of it for HT. The room problem in the center is because the sub is 6' wide and 4' high but I have not heard better so it stays, besides it was a gift from a friend which means alot to me. Some have, you need the room and for me the hard part the money to do that. Not a bad idea actually. I talked with someone a while back who only did HT, he never did 2 ch so he never knew. I was telling him with 2 ch the idea is to toe in the speakers to have the image come from exactly the center. The same way is ideal for a phantom center, the sound sounds like it is from the screen. When I play concert disc I sometimes set it to 2 ch, I can walk up to the Tv and it still sounds like the sound is coming from the center, it was quite a surprised how wide the 2 ch speakers were imagining, but they are not normal. I learned alot here over the years asking questions and after trying some of the suggestions. Even at times when it went against what I thought was best. One of those things was set all HT speakers to small and let the sub handle the bottom, if the sub is capable. 'Well they were correct, after trying it a few different times I heard the difference, I was using all Forte 11 at the time and I thought they were more capable then just being set to small. But they were right, instead of 6 of the speakers in the room trying to cover down to a certain frequency just the sub did below the set freq, it cleaned up the sound a good bit. You never know and I am always learning from people here, like many years ago I didn't think matching 3 front speakers were as important as what it is until I listened to them and tried it......another one of those learning times. Some things sound crazy but actually work, if all else fails a good friend has done this work for 30+years and I trust what he says.
  5. True, that's is because the screen is in the center. Same answer as above. Yes When mixed the center info is in the center for obvious reasons and the other channels are set to give a realistic sound as if you were standing looking into the scene. With someone talking to the left of the screen and they walk across to the right of the screen the voice should go through the correct speakers to sound as if you were there, not all recording do this but when done correctly it should sound like that. I remember when it was not discrete channels and called "pro logic", more of just a blend into all speakers and sometimes not good at all, it was nothing like today, a good mix today is really amazing the effect it has.
  6. Best idea ------------------------------------------------ If the center is most of the focus instead of the front 3 might as well just get a good soundbar. 3 identical is ideal, why have a weak spot.
  7. No, to me anything promedia is not really Heritage, Heritage is what Klipsch did for many yeears before any of the other products came along, it's what built this company. The sub we were talking about is brand new and not even for sale yet. The only pictures of them are in this thread.
  8. Almost forgot, what I love most about the new Heritage subs it it's a horn, even better a vented horn. I am half deaf but can easily hear the difference with a horn sub compared to a direct radiator, even more so with full horn speakers. It seems to be a perfect fit to blend together and also increases efficiency which is rally needed with most Heritage. Happy to see real Heritage subs and being a vented horn is great, people have been asking for a Heritage sub as long as I have been reading here and these will be a good example of Heritage.
  9. There is something down there, even with average music there can be sounds in the sub range. Infrasound or even not that deep can be heard trying a sub off and on, what it is I don't know but it's there.
  10. But not as pretty as a nice lamp or table or other "decoration" But I put up with it since my wife wanted them, the things I put up with.
  11. That's just silly to have something like that in your living room. Wouldn't a nicely decorated room be much better/ prettier ? You youngsters these days, some little bookshelf speakers at most would be much more decorative, and fit in with the overall aesthetics which everyone knows is more important than sound.
  12. Nope, way to small, 4 of those would be a little closer. I don't think so, still way to small for a 1202, must be something new. But a horn so I like it already.
  13. I removed the link, if not it would be spam. If spam move on.
  14. Besides being tired of half of the back space used by the speakers I always wondered how bad it would be to be hit in the head by a flying Heresy or two. But I did take the chance for a couple years.
  15. I was going to ask if the upstairs tenant had an annoying whiney wife or partner but that wouldn't be PC so I didn't. Glad you got it worked out, well done.
  16. I remember hearing a story a long time ago that PWK put some speakers in a friends car, Not sure if that was true or not. Around 2005 we had a Jeep SUV and had a pair of Heresy's in the back, sounded really good. After a couple of years I took them out, it took up alot of space and probably not the safest thing if we crashed.
  17. That's funny, bet it sounds much better, but will be broken in roughly with bad music, sound like my dad now. It's strange we never listen to music when we drive, an occasional football game when driving back from Hope on a Sunday. I don't know why as much as we both listen at home, might have to start listening.
  18. Very true, it's probably most of the reason I am still alive.
  19. For me at least, I have great speakers, but nothing to get excited about with amp or preamp and still have amazing sound, I would put against 90% of what's out there. imo But a not so good recording can ruin any setup. I listen for the music and not the equipment, if it works I am good, no reason to change. Is there better, sure but there always will be, so I just enjoy the music, if it sounds amazing which is easy to hear, I'm good. I have chased better sound for 50 years and now I just enjoy the best I have ever had.
  20. Yes it's just you......again. OK, no your right I see a few things and think the same thing so I don't get them. But I did know a girl like that once.
  21. 1 Recording quality 2 Speakers 3 Everything else
  22. Welcome If it were me I would first open it up and clean all connectors, unplug one at a time and clean the terminals. I say this because I had a driver cut out as you said and the terminal looked perfectly clean and was tight but somehow did not make a good connection. I guess it was some form of film on the connections and even know they were really tight to get off it was not making contact. After cleaning it has worked fine and never had another problem. It's a a cheap/free way to rule out something simple.
  23. Thanks, it kind of went through a few changes lately, just some updating after years. Some lighting changes in the bar and mostly in the garden around it plus a few new coats of clear on everything.
  24. Didn't notice the last line of his post, but it's gone now.
  25. Since this came back up. Just for the record the Heresy's are still doing fine out there, nothing has been done to them.
