I would wait on the new Onkyo line. Back in Febuary, I bought a new Onkyo 804, only to find out it had a bad hum in the sub channel. Research told me it was a known problem, & it is now going on 7 weeks in the shop. There are also many complaints of a drop in quality over the last few models. This was my 4th Onkyo receiver, & the sound quality was far inferior to any of my older units. Unfortunately, it seems I am stuck with it.

Now that I know that the list is not the limit, Can I change my answer to La Scala II?

Fine then.... Since I have a house full of old heritage, I would like to try some new stuff.... So I guess it would have to be Cornwall III

I also recommend the OPPO 981. Great deal for the price.

When it comes to free stuff, I'm not real picky..... I will take whatever I can get!

My daughter & her boyfriend come over every week & we go to dinner then home to watch it... It's become a regular event. We really missed it when it was off for a few weeks, but we kept up the dinner anyway.

I also talked to Bob Crites about his improved woofers that he had made for the Corns. I will be looking for opinions from anyone that has used them.

I see that the forum is back up.... it went down last night while I was posting these..... Sorry Alan, I already have plans for the new additions (except the JBL's), but I sent you a link to another pair via email. Here is a pic of the JBL's....

When I pulled the backs, one had the original, square magnet driver, & the other had a K-33-R, round magnet. The square mag had an open circuit. Here is a pic of the coil from the round mag. I think it got a bit hot....

Last week, I spotted a pair of Heresy's on Craigslist for $175 with a bad woofer, & grabbed them. I had another spare woofer on the shelf, so they are already working. Turns out, the guys dog chewed up the woofer! (Well, I thought it was funny) A few nights later, I got a call from a friend about a pair of Cornwall's that I have been trying to grab some time. When I first saw them, the tweeters were blown, so I ordered a pair of diaphrams from Bob & gave them to him, but he never installed them. The call was that he had an amp blow out & took out the crossovers, so he now wants to sell them. I got them for $350. Turns out, both woofers are blown, & the crossovers are fine. While I was picking them up, he also handed me a pair of JBL L88's, in poor condition. One has a bad tweeter, & the other the grill is busted. Here is a pic of the Heresy's:

If you go with the Onkyo, stay away from the 804. It has a known problem with hum in the subwoofer channel. Also, the 605 is due out this month with major updates.
