  1. I was looking for the basic specs for the JBL subwoofers to give you a starting point for reference. I found the page I linked to thru a basic search for "JBL PSW-1200 owners manual". There were several hits to choose from and I chose that one since it referenced the specs prominently. More searching may turn up better info for your purposes.
  2. Interestingly enough... Perhaps due to Bidenomics My Jolida CD player is selling for more than the $1200 it was new. 🙄🙄🙄
  3. @1MoreFord Thanks for the manuals lead, however, I can't download without registering and it won't allow any new registrations. If I had the Service Manual, I could likely repair the JBL PSW-1200, as I am pretty electronically literate. Without that manual it wasn't worth even trying for me. Is that something you could get for me, or is that not allowed ? https://www.hifiengine.com/register_an_account.shtml https://www.hifiengine.com/register/register.php
  4. So, because I am not up on the current state of audio equipment, I really have no idea what to consider. I was thinking I read somwhere that Monoprice was acquired by Klipsch ? Anyway, the JBL PSW-1200 was fine as far as I was concerned. However it's amplifier board burned up, and again from my reading this was a common thing with the JBL Sub Woofers of the time. I don't need anything great, just a decent one that can handle a room that is about 15x20 feet with good non-distorted base. It doesn't have to be able to crack my walls, or knock things off shelves in my second story. Honestly, reliability is probably one of my more important considerations.
  5. Hi, I'm really not up on the current Audio Technology. I had an older JBL PWS-1200 Sub Woofer that has died. I am trying to select a Klipsch Sub Woofer to replace it. However, I am confused by so many of the Klipsch Subs having what appear to be the same specifications. They are all < $100 difference, so any one of them is within my budget. Can anyone tell me the difference between the following and why I would want to get one particular one over the others ? 7. I just purchased a RP-1200sw on Monday and the power indicator light only worked for a hour, now it does not come on but the subwoofer does have power also the gain has to be turned to 7 for any significant bass to be heard. Has anyone had this issue before?
  8. Duke, you know I used to say the same years ago. I had a Microtech 1200. I sold the old stuff a while back. I recently bought KHorns with an Onkyo M504 165 wpc amp. The amp has meters. I was surprised to learn what 20 watts sounds like. To put it in perspective, I play drums with the volume significantly lower than that. 20 watts will drown out my drums. Either that, or my amp's meters are wrong.
  9. I don't believe that ARC/eARC is your issue. I have an older Samsung TV that does not have eARC. My Cinema 800 is connected to the TV's HDMI/ARC input and I have full 4K60Hz video. You could have an issue with your TV's HDMI/ARC input. That is why I said: If you used a different HDMI input on your TV when you did your tests, you did not eliminate the TV's HDMI/ARC input as the problem, which has nothing to do with ARC per se. Very true but ARC/eARC is not used for video. The Cinema Series soundbar articles mention eARC because it has the bandwidth required to provide all the audio formats the Cinema 1200 supports as described in Cinema 1200 - Decoding and Playback Modes but that article is a bit misleading. HDMI/ARC has the bandwidth to support a Dolby Digital Plus audio stream which provides higher quality audio (CD quality) when compared to Dolby Digital. Furthermore, Dolby Digital Plus does support Dolby Atmos, albeit at a lower audio quality. Since the Cinema Series soundbars do support Dolby Digital Plus we can listen to Dolby Atmos content via an HDMI/ARC connection as long as the TV can provide it.
  10. Okay, you have confirmed your HDMI cables are good and everything works when the soundbar is out of the equation. Assuming you used the HDMI connection on the TV that the soundbar connects to, that just leaves the soundbar itself. If your soundbar is defective, and still within the warranty period, Klipsch will provide a warranty replacement but they will want evidence of a defect. The results of your tests should provide that evidence. Cinema 700/800/1200 Video Passthrough Capabilities states that the soundbar supports 4k60 passthrough at Chroma 4:4:4. That should be enough to confirm there is an issue with your soundbar. You may be able to learn a bit more if you can determine whether your soundbar can pass through 4k30 passthrough at Chroma 4:4:4 or 4k60 passthrough at Chroma 4:4:2. Either way, you should open a case with Klipsch Product Support and begin a dialog with them.
  11. Ok so I used the series x cable to my tv directly and verified that it supports 4K@60hz I also did the same directly from my series x to my tv via the provided HDMI that came the 1200 and it also does support 4K@60hz where does this leave me is it the soundbar itself? I have verified it has the latest firmware and messed with multiple settings via my xbx/tv
  12. Ok after quick looking my series x come with an 2.1 ultra high speed HDMI by default as for the one that came with cinema 1200 it only says high speed with Ethernet seems my problem lies there hopes this works
  13. This article has the information you are looking for: Cinema 700/800/1200 Video Passthrough Capabilities The Audio Return Channel (ARC/eARC) is used to pass audio streams to the soundbar when the audio originates from the TV, the TV's external inputs, or any internal apps the TV may have. When the program material originates from the soundbar, as is the case when the source is the soundbar's HDMI1 or HDMI2 inputs, the connection at the TV behaves as a regular HDMI port. The most likely cause your soundbar won't pass through 4k, assuming your TV does support 4K video, is your HDMI cable. All HDMI cables definitely are not created equal. I strongly recommend you use a certified HDMI cable. Considering the small difference in price, I would go with The Ultra High Speed HDMI® Cable. Thanks to the Ultra High Speed HDMI® Cable Certification Program, you can now be sure you are getting a genuine certified cable.
  14. Does anyone have any solutions please I've read around a little and can't find anything specifically for the 1200 I've tinkered with settings on my TV and series x It just simply won't pass through 4k when hooked to the soundbar and soundbar to tv via arc
  15. John is a really nice bloke, in my experience, via emails. He was once the US distributor for Klipsch cinema speakers, and when PWK sold Klipsch Professional to WWE Technologies (this is a whole other story), John was unhappy with the quality and he started making his own units, inspired by and, to some, an improvement on, Klipsch designs (this is extremely apparent) and built by Gary Gillum (the G in KG), who designed the MCM system with PWK. There are HPS4000 designs which take elements of PWK's work and Peavey horns too. Lots of cinemas around the world use HPS4000. He did indeed buy the rights to the supertweeter, and has had it made in Vietnam (or one of Dai-Ichi's factories) for many years, and supplied it to Klipsch for a while, until it was replaced by a Celestion version.
  16. Hello I have a Klipsch 600 cinema soundbar. The first one had the no power issue. Klipsch replaced it and in less than a year the new 600 soundbar does a loud popping sound and then sound is reduced so you can not hear it anymore. Factory reset will fix it for about 5 minutes and it does the same thing again. Contacted Klipsch and they said it is too far out of warranty to replace it. They did send a 30% coupon for a full priced item but with the average life span of a year I do not think I want to purchase another Klipsch soundbar. My question is does anybody done or have a repair for this? Is it a supply power issue on the 24 volt side? Thanks
  17. Hello all, I have a Klipsch Cinema 800 for a few weeks now. I am using the ARC from an older Samsung JS8500 LED TV. My issue is the sound is not clear. It has a slight muffled and compressed sound to it. I checked my firmware levels and they are current to the ones on the Klipsch webpage. I have tried the various presets (Standard, Direct, Movie, Music, etc.) I cannot find one that mids and highs sound better than my $75 bluetooth speaker. I am nearing my return window and I need to decide on how to remedy this. I have read reviews and comments on the great sound quality so I want to get mine to sound great. I have tried playing music from my iPhone and it really does not sound very good. Muffled and compressed and a sounds like a AGC limiter. I am not really interested in headbanging loud volume but I do want it clean and have the dialog easy to understand. Any advice? Open a case with Klipsch or is this just the nature of the beast and I should look elsewhere?
  18. I had the same issue with my cinema 600 soundbar. The c05 and c06 caps were shot. I replaced them with these from Amazon and it's working fine now https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B072SS83BF/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Evidently they had been going bad for a while because the external speakers are working much better too. I joined so that I could thank those that came up with this fix. Sure beats buying a new system.
  19. They definitely have the “cool” factor going considering their age and what looks to be excellent condition. 1200 euros is about $1,300US. It would depend on how badly you wanted them. Personally I wouldn’t pay anywhere near that. I’ve paid less than half that for much newer Heresys.
  20. Let me start by saying that I live in Italy, and here the requests for these speakers are much higher than in America. the seller asks for 1200 euros....which seems too much to me!.
  21. Thank you for the reply I'm now very interested into seeing what the high end model of the flexus system is going to be hope it's on par with if not better than the 1200 I already ordered the 1200 if I have any major issues I'm just gonna hold out for the new flexus system hoping onkyo can help klipsch hammer out any kinks they have had with the previous soundbars they produced time well tell I suppose
  22. hi @audiophile18, The Cinema Series soundbars are being phased out and are being replaced with the Flexus Soundbars as @billybob pointed out. The Cinema Series has had its issues: most notable are the many firmware issues and general hardware reliability. The current firmware versions are quite reliable and have addressed most of the issues found in earlier firmware versions. Hardware reliability is another matter. Some owners have had two or three replacements while others have no problems at all (yet). The the most notable remaining issue that affects the Cinema 700, 800, & 1200 is the loss of audio which can be be be restored by power cycling the soundbar. I have a Cinema 800. I still encounter this issue every three or four weeks, much less frequently though than the almost daily occurrence when the issue first surfaced. The other issue involves the centre channel dialog which Klipsch never completely resolved. Very few, if any, of the hardware issues plaguing the Cinema Series soundbars involve the Klipsch speakers. Almost all are due to issues with the electronics. All owners agree: They sound fantastic! I know there are some great deals on Cinema series soundbars now but my advice would be to wait for the Flexus Soundbars. The entry level models will be released first followed by the higher end models a few months down the road, just has Klipsch did with with the BAR series and the Cinema series.
  23. I have an 800 right now and am quite happy with it. I'm sure you won't regret buying the 1200.
  24. @KevinB...may have an opinion on the 1200 system. We shall see. Klipsch and Onkyo have collaboration on a new model you may be interested in. Here read this, meanwhile welcome:
  25. I was gonna get the cinema 700 but decided I wanna go all out I've had my very simple 2.0 Vizio soundbar I got 8 ago it had a sub port and I got a free inifinity bu 120 last year and got a nice taste of home bass before it out of nowhere while not in use made a thump noise and smoked decided I wanna go all out anyone have any opinions or advice for the 1200 read many good reviews but also a concerning amount of negative ones about ranging from it bricking within a few months to a year, audio cutting out, people having to buy smart switches cause they have to unplug it many times etc I'm excited but also nervous anyone own the 1200 could you please share your experience
