  1. I'm going to buy a pair of Bookshelf Speakers (maybe Klipsch R-15PM) and a Subwoofer (maybe Klipsch SW-112) in the future. I have the following doubts: The R-15PM are powered monitors. The website says "This highly efficient, powerful yet minimalist speaker engulfs listeners in their favorite movies and music. ", so i think they are good for listening to music and movies. But people say that Hi-Fi speakers are better for home listening than Monitors, because they add coloration... Anyways these Klipsch are intended for Home and not for Studio... What would be the difference? Also: Do Hi-Fi speakers sound harder than this Klipsch? Offering more volume, power... The monitors came with a remote control. This control has SUB+ and SUB- buttons, so you can adjust the subwoofer volume. Can I set the subwoofer gain (in the unit's back) to Max, and then use the remote to control the volume? I'll like watching to movies with the corresponding dynamic range, without changing the bass volume, a "flat response", but I'll like to be able to "boost" the bass in music, with the SUB+ button. What is the best way to do that? Thank You Very Much.

    2 subs better than 1?

I know the answer is YES! 2 subs are better than 1. But, is one 15” enough to satisfy the bass tooth? What I’m asking is, by adding a second 15” sub, does it give me 200% better bass? Or, by adding the second 15” sub, I’m entering into a bit of diminishing return, and only gives me 150% better bass. What it comes down too, Is it worth the extra dough?

    Great Find

Hello folks, again new the forum, I was at a flea market and came across a sub-woofer by Definitive Technologies ProSub 800 cube, to my surprise it was acoustic suspension with pressure coupled passive radiator, I have a few other subs but for its size both being 8 inch and very compact in design, retails for $399 and got this for $75, rated at a true 20hz this was a great find. Does anyone own this type of sub and if they do, please let me know if you are as satisfied as I am with this sub. I will be using this sub in the bedroom because of its small footprint. I was surprised the bass radiator didn't have standing waves that would muddy the very lowest frequencies. Subwoofer Sizing - Confused

I'm trying to decide between the Klipsch RP 12" or 15" subwoofer for my HT. My room is 16.5ft long by 14ft wide by 8ft-10in. high. Primary usage in for movies, TV, and occasional sports. I have both a projector screen and 65" TV (TV sits in a cavity between the roll-up screen). The general rule is this forum is "bigger is better" but I have also heard others in other forums suggest that 4 smaller subwoofers (8" to 10") placed in each corner of the room would be better. Also would like to have your feedback regarding placement. I've seen designs with the subs in front, some with them along the sides and some with 2 in front and 1 placed along the back of the wall in a corner. Really confused.
  5. I have a beautiful RSW-15 in black available for sale. It is in terrific shape, has some minor scratches, one small imperfection, 2 missing grill pegs, and is otherwise in great shape. I purchased this subwoofer from another member in the forum and would like to sell it to another member in the forum to "pass it on." I have tested it extensively, and it works 100%. I added feet to this sub, as it came without feet. Some scratches on the bottom are there most likely due to the lack of feet. I did some light touchup on them in order to make the appearance as perfect as possible. The member who had it before me took excellent care of it, and I have also. It has absolutely no performance issues and plays loud, low and clear. Asking $750 for the RSW-15. I enjoy getting to know and meet the members here. Please be friendly! I look forward to creating a win-win here My track record is not long here but I am 100% honest and forthcoming. Feel free to ask any questions or request additional pictures of any part as needed. I am located in Chicago, Illinois, in the far north part of the city. Easily accessible for anybody, safe and parking is not a problem where I live. Cheers, Roboklipsch
  6. I have two Klipsch R-12SW subwoofers for sale for $300 each OBO. I am willing to negotiate price because there are a couple of slight scratches on the top of each one but they work beautifully. The original boxes and packaging are included. Please see image below.
  7. I just ordered a pair of the RF-7 III however I hesitated to order the R-115SW because I saw one interview on Youtube in the CES 2018 event and it appears a new subwoofer will be released soon for this pair of speakers, does somebody knows something about this?

    KSW-12 Sub Wooden ring

I have an older Klipsch KSW12 subwoofer. There is a wooden ring that lays around the speaker. It apparently is glued on. It isn't secured with screws or anything else. It's fallen off of the speaker probably due to vibration over time. I'd like to reattach it but I don't know what kind of glue to use. I don't want to use just any glue and have it vibrate off again. If anyone could recommend a glue and/or a repair method for this I'd appreciate it. Thanks..
  10. Hello! I just moved into a new place and I'm finally setting up my home theater again. My old subwoofer died in the move (It was almost 5 years old), so I picked up a new Klipsch Sub-12HG to match my Quintet. I have everything running through a Harmon Kardon AVR 1700. Everything sounds pretty good after running the Harmon's auto adjust setup, but I have no idea what my settings my subwoofer should be set to. I'd appreciate any help I have no idea what these buttons/switches do. Thanks!

    Help Setting up Sub

Hello Community, I have the sw-450 subwoofer and we just moved in to a new place so it's time to setup and recal everything, and I'm at a loss for the sub setup. My receiver has an auto-setup function with a listener mic, but how should I set the nobs on the sub? Should I be bypassing? Volume? I've seen a lot of mixed information, and I've even seen the "just experiment until it sounds good" suggestion. Can anyone give me a definitive answer? The rest of my setup is from the Icon series, so kf-28's in the front, ks-14's surround, kc-25 center channel. Pioneer Elite vsx-40 receiver. Thanks!
  12. It's for real this time. New couch means I can no longer hide these behind out current couch. A pair of custom made boxes 30" wide by 10" deep by 24" tall. Has a Dayton Audio HF-15 driver and the Dayton Audio 500 watt plate amp. $500 takes both. These things can be tuned very easily. They can shake your house of the foundation or give you some deep tight musical bass. I'm located in Rocklin, CA (just outside Sacramento) and am looking for local pickup or I can drive a little ways to meet half way ect. I am posting these here first and if no takers in a week or so I will put on the dreaded Craigslist or Facebook marketplace....Any questions feel free to PM me. Thanks Jeremy

  15. Hi, If I were to connect the Yamaha YAS 107 soundbar to the Klipsch R-110SW subwoofer, and I set the gain on the back of the sub to 1/4th, then would the soundbar's remote (which has a separate control for subwoofer volume) be able to to adjust the sub's volume from 0 to 25% (because I set the gain on the back of the sub to 1/4th) or from 0 to 100% (i.e. what I set on the back of the sub is irrelevant)? I ask because I will have some AIRBNB clients stay here and I don't want them to mess up the system. Also, do you think this set-up could possibly crack a glass window which is 3-4 feet from the sub? I'm just worried some client will mess things up badly. Thanks for your time!, kam
  16. Hey Klipsch community! In the past couple years I've been bitten by the audiophile bug and I've been driven to find new and better ways to enjoy movies and especially music. First I got the two RP-160m bookshelf speakers, then the RP-250C center channel, and this week I finally got my sub, the RP-110SW. I've been happy with the bookshelf and center channels, but I'm pretty sure I have no idea what I'm doing on setting up the appropriate crossover--for the 160's and especially the sub. I'm wondering what the best crossover setting for the receiver would be, and also on the sub itself. I've read a bit and trying out different things, but thought I'd ask in case someone has a similar setup or could show me the way. I'm not sure if it matters, but I'm using an Onkyo TX-NR555 receiver. Thanks for any assistance you can offer!

    Killer Deal on RSW-12

I got a killer deal on a used RSW-12 on Craigslist in Houston for $350. Thanks Cesar. It is in just about perfect condition and looks super clean with the exception of on very tiny unnoticeable ding that is partially hidden by the grill cover. I will touch up the spot with a black marker at some point I guess. I have wanted one to go with my RF-3II, RB-5, & RC3 setup since I bought them in 03-04. It is replacing the RW-12 that has served me well. I may hook both up and try it out for a while but I really don't feel I need 2 subs. Have been pretty happy with one. Room size is only about 14 x 17. I put the SVS isolation feet on it to reduce the room rattles and vibration downstairs (got to keep the wife happy). So far, so good. I have watched the Eagles blu ray and the sound is great. The San Andreas movie was awesome with the new sub. Will experiment with placement tuning (facing a corner now) over the next couple weeks and likely put my old one on Craigslist for a couple hundred I guess.
  18. Hi All! Looking for advice to build the best possible sound experience for an upcoming event I'm organizing. At my disposal are 6 pairs of Klipschorns, a pair of Industrial split LaScalas, and a pair of "Keystone" 18" folded-horn subwoofers that measure about the height and width of the bass bin of a Klipschorn, and stack nicely under the LSI's. I have false corners for the Khorns and risers for the top hats, to bring the high end above guests' heads. The event is a dance-focused evening inspired by the Mancuso Loft parties in NYC. All vinyl, songs played start to finish and a wide journey of genres. Room dimensions are 40 feet by 60 feet, with 12 foot ceilings, and a main dance floor area of 32' by 32'. The goal is an immersive-as-possible sound field surrounding the dance floor, while trying to avoid major combing issues or conflict between the horns. The attached file shows the scale of the room and the Khorn's and LSI's for reference. My knowledge of live speaker placement is low- would love some suggestions or best practises to make this an incredible experience for our guests.

Do SVS subs ever go on sale?

I'm not expecting any specific answers here, just a general inquiry if members here are aware of SVS sales, such as BlackFriday/Holiday sales...? I'm looking to buy the PB-1000, I realize for some people here $500 is pocket change and they'd say, "Just buy the thing already!". But for me, that's a considerable purchase and if I could wait a few months and save $100 or so it's something to think about. I figure it's a company that kinda sticks to it's prices? I know there is an outlet section, but the PB-1000 rarely is for sale in there, which is a good sign in my opinion. So, is anyone aware of SVS sales on their own site? I say that because I know they will go up on sale in B&M stores near me, but that voids the Bill of Rights that SVS provides. I want that 45-day trial, and the 1 year trade in offer, and the 5 year warranty. SVS reps tell me none of that applies (perhaps the 5 year warranty is still valid) if I purchase from a retailer. They set their own policies and don't have to adhere to anything SVS suggests. Thanks all!

    TUBA HT

Anyone with TUBA HT experience? I am assembling a TUBA HT in the 24 inch version. Anyone with know how on the TUBA?
  21. So I decided to deploy a sub with my La Scalas. I went with the Polk PSW505 which is a powered 12-inch sub, great reviews and relatively inexpensive. I am going to be using the speaker/line level inputs as my Yaqin amp doesn't have a pre or sub out. According to https://www.upscaleaudio.com/pages/subwoofer-tips this is not a bad way to go. I do not intend to connect the LS to the speaker-out on the sub, which means I will continue to have full range going to the LS. The sub has a variable crossover point, from 60-120hz. What would you recommend as the sub xo point, given that the LS will continue to receive the full range signal. I've read the LS drop off completely at ~50hz and are weak below 90hz, so I'm thinking 90hz is a good point. I'll experiment but wondered what the community thinks best given your experience and this specific config.
  22. I have Klipsch Promedia 2.1 speakers that I've bought from 2 years ago and I've been using them frequently ever since. Recently, the right channel speaker sometimes works, and sometimes it doesn't. I noticed yesterday that when I plugged the power cable of the subwoofer (to which the speakers are connected to), the right channel speaker was working for a while like it should, then it stopped. Also, I've also noticed both speakers have a low buzzing sound, and the buzzing sound doesn't go away regardless of changing the volume. But I really just want my right speaker to work again. And by the way, I am not a sound techie so I won't understand a lot of tech jargon. I know that there are so many places to start, but if anyone can help me out with what I should do from the information I just gave, that would be awesome! Thanks!

My klipsch Subwoofer wont turn on

Hi guys , i hope someone, can help me out with the following issue . I have a pioneer receiver Vsx 920 , so nothing special there. I just bought a new Klipsch R-10 SW woofer , and i ran the MCACC to let pioneer fine tune the speakers and new woofer . i have had the adjust knob at the back set to LFE and woofer gain at 40% as seen on picture below. I have set the the "on switch" to "Auto" And let it run..... he detects my speakers , detects the woofer and al well . After running everything and pioneer is ready with the "fine tuning" Then i start to watch tv and i wait..... but the subwoofer wont turn on automatically . then i start up spotify ...no woofer... a movie.....no woofer I have to keep switching the on and off switch to make use of its woofer . I thought maybe its the wrong cable? So i bought a new cable .. Oehlbach Nf subwoofer cable. still nothing , so i bought another cable of Monster subwoofer 400 sw cable. still nothing... I ran the MCACC again... checked the setting...i thought , maybe the volume was to low on the woofer. i noticed it was set to -10 DB ... so i switched it up to 0 DB , but stil no luck. I did a Hard reset on my reciever...and once again let MCACC run its course.... no luck Now im ran out of ideas, what to do....to make it work on auto setting....

    I know nothing about subs...

As the title reads: I know nothing about subs... My current setup as of yesterday - Fronts: RB-35 Center: RC-62 Surrounds: RS-52 Now, the hardest part is going to be convincing my wife that we NEED a sub... Whether this is true or not, she will not likely be receptive to spending another $300+ after I just picked up these RS-52 surrounds for $220 this week... So. Who is willing to educate me? Here is what I want to know: - Will a sub really make a difference? (my guess is yes, it will) - I can probably get away with buying a Polk PSW10 on Amazon (under $100), but is it really worth it? Better than nothing at all? - Ideally, what's the sub to help round-out my system? (I'm assuming RSW10 or RSW15 would be the suggestions?) - Assuming my budget cannot allow the two subs mentioned above ^, what's the "next best thing" - doesn't have to be Klipsch, but preferrably... More questions about subs in general: What's the typical lifespan of a sub for HT? I'm guessing most people just leave them on 24/7? Or is this something you turn on only when playing certain movies, games, albums, etc.? Do you leave the sub on when watching the news? I am happy with my current setup. I'm waiting to pick up the RS-52s this weekend so I'll get them mounted and see how that changes the sound in my room. I'm at a 5.0 setup. Moving forward I think a 5.1 would make sense. I just need to "feel" the difference, and have a little help here with justifying the purchase! Cheers all!

LFE output level & Auto On

Is there a general volume level for the auto-on to be triggered and turn on the sub. I have an RSW-12. If i am listening at a moderate level at night, I have to crank the volume a bit to get the sub to switch on ... and then I turn the volume back down some. About 15 or 20 minutes later the sub turns off due to the lower volume for night watching while the kids are asleep. What are some of your experiences with this topic? I assume it could also vary on getting a true 5.1 signal from a blu ray versus a stereo or other type of signal from the cable box. Any yes.....I would prefer to have the volume cranked up more all the time.....just not always practice with sleeping kids or the wife making business calls. Thanks.
