MikeSt
Someone's selling black 1986 Pro Lascalas here, how do they sound? Are they just like regular Lascalas?
Cornman
Hi Mike I am looking forward to forum response for your question. I will not comment on sound as I am the seller. Cornman
Coytee
If stock I think they have the K43 woofer in them (heavier duty). Part of the tradeoff of the heavier duty woofer is low end extension (or so I think that's the deal). So, if you want them for HOME use and keep the volume sane, you might want to trade out for the K33 to buy a few extra db's at low output. Otherwise, I think they are 99% the same?? Islander
If you're using a sub to help fill in the bottom end, I'd think there would be little difference in the sound, and you'd have that cool industrial look, if that appeals to you. lakedmb
When I had my industrial Lascala's I thought for the size of the speakers the low end was very poor.
Islander
Compared to regular La Scalas? Any La Scalas need the help of a subwoofer anyway, according to most people, including me.
Deang
sounds like a PA speaker
djk
"sounds like a PA speaker" Well, that's what they were designed as. " Are they just like regular Lascalas? " Yes. Some of them have the high power K43 woofer, but all have the same networks, mid and HF drivers, and sound substantially the same. I recently sold my 1986 industrial tops with fiberglass and the aluminum trim. They had type AA networks and solder lug K55V (which I was not expecting to see as late as 1986). This is a horn simulation program showing the difference between a K33 (grey) and K43 (black) in a LaScala sized cabinet. Not enough difference to get excited about. IndyKlipschFan
You will be fine with them for sure.. If you use them with a sub for HT you will REALLY love them!
Coytee
Not enough difference to get excited about. In other words, the bass sucks on both! [:|] (before anyone gets defensive, I've owned LaScalas for the past 30 years [])
kuisis
I've had mine for several years, my first Klipsch. They sound great to me, I have Chorus, Cornwall, Hersey and these and these are my main two channel speakers, at least till next Monday. I never used a sub, just never felt the need. IndyKlipschFan
For music, you may not need it at all. A lot depends on what kind of music you listen to and at what volume too? That said, all home theaters need a decent sub... Period!
