Pete H
Any locals here on the forum that can recommend a great repair shop in the Canton Ohio area? I need someone that can work on older receivers, amps, really, any vintage equipment. Thanks!
Groomlakearea51
Only person I can think of is Warren Bendler in South Euclid, but that's a drive... He is considered as one of, if not the best vintage Sansui specialist in the country. Not sure if he does other makes, etc. If you would like to contact him, send me an email via the forum. Mike Lindsey
Craig Ostby (NOSValves) is in Michigan, but he can work on just about any of the vintage amps. He does solid work, and stands behind everything he does. Here is a link to his website. http://www.nosvalves.com/index4.htm
Daddy Dee
I've always been happy to do business with Craig Otsby. Excellent work for sure.
Pete H
I'm really trying to find someone local for the repairs I need on my Sansui, but I'm contacting Craig about tube amps. Thanks for the info.
fwphoto
Only person I can think of is Warren Bendler in South Euclid, but that's a drive... Just one man's experience: His reputation is very good on AudioKarma. I contacted him about doing a "re-cap" on a '70s Marantz integrated amp & was told I was about 4th in line for repair. After awhile (2-3 months maybe) I contacted him again to see if we were closer to a date & he seemed a bit miffed I emailed. Seriously, I was very nice about it, never suggesting anything negative, simply seeing how things were going. A long chunk of time later I send another really nice, very carefully worded email to find out if I was getting closer to having the work done. No reply. In the meantime I bought a ST-70 & PAS-3 from one of this forum's members (thanks again Scott!) & back-burnered the Marantz. I will probably re-cap it myself. Anyway, I hope you can actually get Warren as he does have an excellent reputation. I wish he had done mine as I'm certain he would do a better job than me. Good luck, Frank W. Pete H
Thanks for the insight Frank. I've sent an initial e-mail and waiting for a response.
fwphoto
Thanks for the insight Frank. I've sent an initial e-mail and waiting for a response. No problem. I hope it works out. Let us know either way. I still would like to find someone to do some work in the area. I reallydon't like the idea of shipping my stereo gear around. Take care, Frank W. Still haven't gotten any response to my e-mail so I'm still looking too. I have a guy that produces some radio spots for me that has done quite a bit of studio engineering and he's trying to find someone too. There's a guy on e-bay that says he specializes in Sansui, but once again, you have to take the chance with shipping. I'll let you know if I find someone Frank.Pete

jamesV
If you are thinking about shipping check out Terry DeWick. Send him an email of what you are looking to get done and he will get back to you fairly quick. I have been meaning to drive down and drop some things off for him to fix but haven't found the time to do so, I hope I can do it sometime this coming year. Pete H
I'll check it out and thanks. Seems to be an opportunity in this field, based on the limited number of people out there.
NOSValves
I'd suggest posting the same request over at Audio Karma's Sansui forum. http://audiokarma.org/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=

sunnysal
they have done a few jobs for me (inlcuding a complicated dynaco mkIV upgrade project) and they have been honest and economical, helping guide me away from unnecessary tweaks, etc. highly recommended. tony
