garymd
We just got our power back after 37 hours without. I HAD a nice pine tree in my front yard. Much of it ended up on top of my van so instead of shoveling yesterday, I was cutting branches so I could shovel today. 34 inches is a lot to shovel! My back is fried. I'll post some pics later. It's unfrigginbelievable.

kelA
I feel for you Gary. I hope is it over for you guys out there. When I was growing up in Iowa and would get the marathon snowfalls, I was the one who had to shovel. I would always go out about every hour and shovel to keep on top of it. I would always see people looking out the windows and probably thinking what a waster of time it was to be shoveling since it was still coming down. After about 10 hours, I was the one laughing when I would look out and see everybody struggling to shovel the 18+ inches from their driveways. I have a Toro electric snowthrower that works great if you have a foot or less so occasionally I'll do it in two shifts. Over 24 inches came down in the middle of the night and although I was awake at 2am listening to the branches on my pine tree cracking, there was no way I was going out in that blizzard! Anyway, we had no power and it's an electric blower. So Dylan - How much snow did you get in Pittsburgh?

garymd
Gary, I forgot where you live, near Fredrick? Thanx, Russ Russ, Ellicott City. Just about a mile from Elkridge where the most fell. I think they got about 36". I'm about 30-40 miles east of Fredrick. Interesting how just a few miles can make a huge difference. I spoke to Larry C.who's just 25 minutes away (but closer to DC), and he only got 19"......Only.
JJkizak
One has to understand the physical laws and constants that exist in our Milky Way Galaxy. It snows when it wants and how much it wants. It rains when it wants and how much it wants. It gets cold when it wants and as much as it wants. It gets warm when it wants and as much as it wants. Meteors crash into the Earth when they want. Chill out man, the kids are having a ball. JJK

oldenough
This will be of little comfort to those of you in the NE States, but here we are in SW Canada simply basking in glorious weather....Something is certainly amiss. Old Ellicott City has lots of history. Main Street looks a lot like it did 100 years ago.
