Klipsch: Good sounding, ugly looking

Eh, I dunno. I think they look cool. I like how the grill sits off the speaker. Freaks me out though with a four year old and one year old running around my baybees. Especially my sub. GAWD! Why didn't they put a grill over the second speaker on that sub?!

Colin,

My beautiful oiled oak Fortes have taken great offense to your depiction of them as "ugly"

"There, there, it will be all right, babies..."

... And my new RS-3's just look downright cool, so don't even go after them...

Now really, TK. You did see the speakers before you bought them, No?

Assuming that is correct, it seems like you purchased them and now post on the forum that they lack beauty.

I've consulted my Quartets and Fortes. The chatter amoung the girls is that some men have no appreciation of true beauty.

I've never understood why so many people complain about how speakers look. Yeah, sure, there are some truly ugly ducklings out there, like the biggest Wilson, and some of those funky, esoteric horn designs, but by and large, they're just boxes. Do people complain about how their TV's look, too? I guess that is a big part of Bose' success; they're just so small and unobtrusive.

As for me, I love the looks of some big speakers. The Klipschorn, the Belle Klipsch, the big Dunlavys, and especially, anything built by Sonus Faber. Those Italians do know how to make something look gorgeous.

I like the looks of them. I beleive there are better looking speakers out there (love the infinity IL40's)but there are many other uglier speakers. I defenitely like the looks.

I like my bass like I like my women, deep and tight.

TK8EZ, what color did you get? I don't care for the cherry much but the other two are pretty nice looking imo. Sure they could have made them look better but that would cost more. So either the cost of the speakers goes up or the quality of components goes down. I think the they are a good balance of the two for the money.

Schmidty, ya a gamer? Nice video card. Would seem to be overkill if not. I am assuming the hard drives sizes are in Gig? Not Meg?

Nope...Klipsch just does not make pretty looking speakers...No birds eye or tiger maple...no rounded corners ...just a box...covered in a rather flimsy veneer finished with a hard to maintain finish...lacquer...oil...who knows....

But once hooked on the sound....
