djk
Dec 15, 2011 1:58pm Man Misspells ‘****’ in Vandalism Attacks, Gets Caught By Spelling Test Email 8 Smaller Font Text Larger Text | Print A Vermont man has been apprehended on criminal charges after his failure to spell correctly gave him away to police. Adam Hall, 34, is accused of vandalizing his ex-girlfriend’s car by bending the license plate frame and scratching the word “sult” into the hood, according to a Bennington, Vt., police affidavit. Hall’s former girlfriend, Brittany Speckman, and police believe that Hall was trying to spell the word “****.” After Speckman discovered the vandalism, she notified police that she thought Hall was the perpetrator. Hall had allegedly been saying bad things about Speckman the night before the vandalism to one of Speckman’s friends at a bar, the document states. The pair had broken up a month earlier, and Speckman was dating someone new, according to the court papers. Police called Hall into the station and issued him a citation. Hall denied any involvement with the vandalism, but when asked to write the sentence “You are a ****,” on a piece of paper, Hall wrote “You are a sult,” instead. The misspelling matched that of the vandalism. Hall is charged with unlawful mischief.
Islander
Let's see if I can bypass the autocensor. The ex-boyfriend scratched "sult" on the girl's car hood, apparently meaning to spell s-l-u-t. When the cops asked him to write "You are a s-l-u-t", minus the hyphens, of course, he spelled it "sult", at which point the cops realized they had their man. oscarsear
It looks more like dyslexia matters in this instance. Admissible in court as definitive proof, I dunno.
