ChipByrd
I have an SW-310 and am underwhelmed. I have a chance to pick up a used RSW-15 for about the same price as a new SW-115. Any suggestions? Should I consider another brand in the $900-1000 range? Thanks.
CECAA850
You never hear about the amps going bad on the old RSW series like you do the new ones. On top of that, the RSW-15 always seems to get good reviews.
ChipByrd
The RSW-15's do seem to get a lot of good reviews.
Shodrewken
What are you shooting for? Are you more geared toward music listening, or more towards HT? I've heard time and time again that the rsw-15 is a VERY musical sub and should serve you well there. Now I don't think it's any slouch for HT, but from what I understand there are better subs out there for HT for the money you're wiling to spend. I know the ED subs are very popular and many people here on the forum own some. Aside from ED there's SVS, HSU, Epik, just to name a few. Pete H
The RSW is great for music and is indeed no window licker sitting in the back of the bus for HT either IMHO, but to each their own.
willland
Any suggestions? The RSW-15 is a high quality sub that just so happens to be extremely musical and not too shabby for HT. You have to decide which is more important, musicality or foundation shaking HT bass. I prefer a more musical sub that can hold it's own with movies like the Revel B15 and the Klipsch RSW-15. Should I consider another brand in the $900-1000 range? On the used market, the Velodyne HGS-15 and HGS-18 and the Paradigm Servo 15v2 are all great for HT and very musical and can be found within the price range mentioned and in some instances(Youthman's HGS-15's) much less. elitedemo
in that price range look at these from epik, hsu, ed, and rythmik http://www.epiksubwoofers.com/empire.html http://www.hsuresearch.com/subwoofers.html uls-15 or vtf 15 http://www.edesignaudio.com/index.php?cPath=2_41 ed a5-350 or a bit more a7-350 http://www.rythmikaudio.com/products1.html fv15 or for a bit more the fv15hp not to say the rsw15 isnt a great sub, BUT for age and cost on a used market my opinion on them makes an easy choice for these ID subs
