jhoak
Retired Army General Norman Schwarzkopf passed away yesterday at his home in Tampa Florida. In my opinion one of America's heros. http://usnews.nbcnews.com/_news/2012/12/27/16197379-desert-storm-commander-norman-schwarzkopf-dies-at-78?lite
RT FAN
A very impressive resume, as evidenced by his obit. Thank you General for your service to our country and for your efforts to unite a varied group of nations & cultures into a working coalition to oppose the invasion of Kuwait. A man widely respected throughout the world, not just here in his home country.RIP: http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2012/12/27/gen-norman-schwarzkopf-who-led-coalition-forces-in-persian-gulf-war-dies/\

Don Richard
History will surely remember him as the architect of the most lopsided victory in modern warfare. RIP
Chris A
History will surely remember him as the architect of the most lopsided victory in modern warfare.Military historians will credit him, for sure. I'm not so sure about the political historians however, which I find to be much too fond of retrospective second guessing. Desert Storm's 100:1 (+) force exchange ratio was thought to be impossible to achieve prior to the battle--now the political decision makers expect this kind of performance, but haven't noticed that things aren't the same now as they were then. Schwarzkopf wasn't so kind in his analysis of the political planning for the second Gulf war. I wonder if any Kuwaitis will be attending services? TheEvan
After Nancy & her mother sent a care package to Iraq (or was it Kuwait?) to their cousin during the first Gulf War, they were astonished to receive a thank you note from Gen. Norman hisself, accompanied by a photo of the General & Nancy's cousin sharing the treats in the quarters they shared. We still have the pic. We had no idea. That cousin retired a General himself. And now Nancy's sister is dating a retired Air Force general...a fine man by all accounts.
