kde
Can I stack my two Ultra THX II subs on top of each other? Right now I have them on opposite sides of the room, but looking to rearrange to make the wiring easier to arrange.
Moderators Youthman Posted January 25, 2014 Moderators Share Posted January 25, 2014 Many have stacked their subs. I believe you will get a 3db gain too
MichaelandKlipsch
Yes you can stack them ad will gain 3db. CECAA850
Stacking or colocating normally adds about 6dB.
Moderators Youthman Posted January 26, 2014 Moderators Share Posted January 26, 2014 I knew there was a gain. Thought I had remembered it was 3db. Maybe it was 6db.
MichaelandKlipsch
Whoops sorry for the for the thumbnail lol. Here is a better pick.Thats right it is 6db not 3 lol.
derrickdj1
Stacking/co-locating indentical subs will gain 6 db of spl. This also works if two subs are mutually couple, or within a 1/4 wavelength of each other. They will combine their pressures which is 3 db. Because they are both powered by their own source, this double the power which is another 3 db. kde
I guess that I will try to stack them. I was doing it more for room organization… and didn't expect the performance increase. I just got a new rack… so will get everything tidy soon.
