Tarheel
The world dimmed with his passing.....but oh what a contribution he made!
Tarheel
Anyone recall the songs he wrote and the groups who later performed them?
billybob
He wrote some and played other near forgotten folk songs. Without looking, I could see Dylan,Baez,Guthrie's...he generally did them himself. Not certain but Maggie's Farm may be one. Some union songs, like Guthrie. A bunch! Tarheel
Thanks for the link Boxx. Interesting comments at the end mostly pro but a few cons on this man and his lifes work. Concerts without much more than a six or twelve string and a green of kindred souls. No truck load of equipment....no box office. The message was everything...... billybob
PBS will probably have something on soon about him, like an American Masters or something. They have before.

Marvel
I had a subscription to "Singout!" back in the mid-'60s. They had some great history articles on songs, with tablature. The beginnings of me learning to play guitar. Bruce
