I will have the recessed alcove to be 10’W 4’H and 2’D to hold the 2 JTRs and 3 KL-650s mounted with Omnimounts. I’m planning to sand the spot where the KL-650s used to be on the angled part of the ceiling tonight and then Saturday morning paint that entire angled section with another coat of paint. MichaelandKlipsch Posted September 2, 2014 Author Share Posted September 2, 2014 The Curved Seymour fixed screen @ 162.8” should be 156.7”W x 69.9”H x 8.3” deep on the two ends where it curves out. Then the shelf should be plenty big and the right and left KL-650 should have plenty wide of a soundstage and I will make sure they are extremely close to ear level. With the omnimount brackets I can have both the Left and Right angled (toed) towards the center main listening section. When I order the screen, I plan to also order the 2 Side masks they make for it for the curved frame on this 2.37:1 screen. Hopefully I can get the recessed shelf made soon this weekend or the next. I plan to pain the interior back wall of the shelf in the same Black Magic paint that I used on my ceiling and the sides most likely also in black. Grabbed these right off the Seymour website. I have had contractors complete my recessed shelf installing a header and footer and I have since put 3 coats of paint on the shelf and interior walls. Next up is time for the big screen to be ordered. Going with a 162" 2.37:1 curved AT screen from Seymour. It will be used in conjunction with a panamorph uh480 lens. Indicator lights on each switch allow you to see your way to them in the pitch dark movie viewing experience. MichaelandKlipsch Posted November 19, 2014 Author Share Posted November 19, 2014 A few updates with the now complete theater and i will be starting a new thread to give a detailed review on AT screens and their physics! The new screen is finally installed and i have nothing but positive things to say about Seymour AV and their customer service. Jon Kaisand was a pleasure to deal with through the entire process and the build quality on this screen is on par with the Stewart. Note the Stewart frame mounted together with 4 L brackets and Seymour mounted with 8 L brackets just skinner ones so they double up on each corner. The material and velvet are both equal in terms of quality IMO. I also thought it was neat when the 15' box arrived it said made in the USA by Robots lol. Anyway this is my first AT screen and i seriously wish i would have taken several members suggestions on going this route from the beginning. i Have numerous photos of my babies (speakers) in their alcove behind the screen for viewing purposes but I really have fallen into the group of enjoy8ing having them out of sight and behind the screen like in the theater. The screen is a C-150 model with is Seymours Curved 163" screen. The packaging was pretty incredible and i also purchased the Millbel acoustically transparent masking panels for watching 16:9 1.85:1 or 1.78:1 content. For those interested in pricing they screen doesn't come cheap with it being $2480 and the masking panels were an additional $350 but they did send me a pen, a key chain and bag of popcorn which i thought was funny but neat. This screen is a 2.37:1 ratio which is a little different from the 2.35:1 and the reasoning is because of the curvature it is made to be paired with a anamorphic lens which we known cases a slight bowtie pincushion effect. The 2.37:1 screen fixes this and creates the perfect ratio to lens pair. I will give a separate review of the pic quality / audio quality with the new Panamorph UH480 lens once it arrives. It will have been my first anamorphic lens and hopefully not something that is upgrade often as from what i understand they are a precision cut piece of glass that can be used with most and future projectors. anyway enough out of me i just wanted to give some background info on the equipment and i will also be adding a link with a video walkthrough of the entire theater and all the equipment inside.
