dwillie
I used to have a membership on SmugMug and have to say they have a fantastic program. I am finding I just don't need all the sophistication, choices and options that SmugMug offers. Can anyone recommend a photo hosting site that does the job simply and easily? Thanks, d. Guest Steven1963
Flickr, perhaps? It's probably among the most popular photography sites around. I can't compare it to smugmug since I've never used it.
Nismo
Depends on what your needs are. Many photo hosting sites are cluttered with so-called features & constant updates... that it just winds up making the process clumsy & time consuming. If you just need a quality hosting site to load pics & post them online (forums, blogs, email etc.)... it doesn't get any easier than: http://imgur.com/ Point & click to upload. Point & click to copy links for forum use. Only takes seconds to post a pic.
BusaDude
I use Flickr... With their free account, you get 1 terabyte of space and they don't resize or compress your original photos. Can be easily accessed online, mobile or through their Google or iOS app. I've been using it for about a year or so and it's pretty easy and straightforward . All my mobile photos go there and I'm slowly uploading all of my older content stored on my PC. https://www.flickr.com/help/faq/

Preserving the native image file is important for making future prints or enlargements. Although one could use a backup hard drive quicker & easier. Uploading hi-res images can be time consuming when done in quantities. But if one is using a hosting site for the sole purpose of sharing the images online & on forums.... then you want the image to be resized & compressed. Most cameras these days are 12MP - 15MP - or 20MP & those cameras will produce extremely large image files... far too large to use them online. Photo hosting sites that offer the option to (automatically) reduce your file size is a valuable function.

Marvel
I started using flickr years ago when I traveled overseas. I always uploaded my pics so I wouldn't have to worry about losing them while traveling, i.e., memory card or camera failing, getting stolen, etc. Being able to store the full resolution file was a plus. twk123
Dropbox is not a bad option and the interface is really easy to use with folders etc. You can even have it incorporated into your computer.

dwillie
Thanks for all the suggestions everyone. Sounds like Flicker is the popular choice so I will take a look and see where it leads. imgur might deserve a look too. d.
