Utah Giant
My Dad has a pair of 1978 Klipsch La Scalas. I'm trying to determine the value. They will need some work to be restored and I have someone that in interested in purchasing them, but I don't know what a fair price would be for both of us. I'm having problems uploading pictures but there are some chips in the wood and they should probably be refinished. I'll try to update the photo file size. Utah Giant
I went before work today, so I didn't have a lot of time to clean them up. I took pictures of the flaws. I am located in Salt Lake City Utah. The first seven pics are one speaker and the next eight are the other. jimjimbo
Little doggie included???? Seriously though, If all of the drivers and crossovers are in working condition, consecutive serial numbers, I think you are looking at $1000 max. Do the serial numbers indicate 1978? tnr
Based on the condition, I would agree with jimjimbo with the $1,000 max. With all the chips in the wood, I'm thinking $600 - $800. This is my opinion only but I think that's what your were looking for. Good luck with your sale. Have you given any thought to keeping them? LaScala's are awesome speakers, and if you can buy them and keep them, I would encourage you to do so.
jimjimbo
Absolutely, if you can keep them, do it! A little wood filler here and there, some Howard's Restor A Finish, update the crossovers, and you've got a kick butt pair of history.

This is my opinion only but I think that's what your were looking for. I agree with your assessment, spot on. We do see a lot of Klipsch and LS in the SLC area, so there are other LS's that are available for that local market. A thousand dollars would be the top for a pristine set with no issues and the capacitors upgraded/updated. After about 20 years the caps are in need of replacement as the sound will degrade and there is a chance of them leaking. A sale of $600 is fair to both and they will sell quickly at that price. If you hold out for the right buyer $800 is not out of the question but it may take some time to move them. At $1000 I think you will hanging on to them for quite a while.
Utah Giant
I appreciate all of the feedback. If I had the room, I'd definitely take the time to restore them and keep them. Unfortunately I live in a condo. I used to listen to them growing up and I definitely have an affinity for Klipsch! That's what my current set up is!

How would I tell if the serial number confirms the year. I should have taken a picture of it.
