moray james
SET 6v6(about the same output as a SET 45) and SET 2A3
Mallette
3w here with bottleheads. However, even the bottlehead lovers conceded they couldn't quite handle the bass of a pipe organ at realistic levels. Everything else, marvelous. And, with a horn loaded sub, I am considering putting my 10w Jolida into service to see how it sounds. Both my Super PAS4i tube preamp and my Dynaco ST 70 are down and I don't have the time to troubleshoot on my own or the money to get fixed for a while. Downside is that I'll need to feed the my Soundcraftsman preamp in to a line for everything but my server. Hopefully it won't be too degraded. Wolfbane
SET 6v6(about the same output as a SET 45) and SET 2A3 I can run 2A3 tubes in my Yamamoto Set 45 amp. Sounds good but not on par with the 45 tubes.
tube fanatic
I have guys running as little as 1/3 wpc into CW and LS small room systems, and get such loud and clean levels that I personally can't stay in there without cotton in my ears! These amps use triode strapped radio tubes like the 35/50L6, 35/50C5, etc. Using those same tubes as pentodes for close to triple that amount of power is total overkill in those installations.
