mustang guy
Wouldn't it be cool to make the plates silver and electroplate them with gold? Silver is $17.19 / oz, and a plate which is 11 3/4" x 6 1/2" and 16 guage would cost about $500. I'm not sure how much the plating would be, but very little actual gold is used. You would have zero corrosion, the best thermal conductivity, and it would be damned beautiful. Imagine that on a case made of a beautiful exotic wood like madagascar rosewood or turkish walnut burl, and some fancy power tubes. Of course, the amp would sit on a clear glass shelf with a mirror displaying the porn beneath. Where do I come up with this stuff? Karsoncookie
As an option, a polished copper plate would look great, if that color suits. But, it would need some finish coat to keep away darkening. Maybe not practical, finish will degrade in time, unless something special heatproof. And of course, Aluminum can be pretty economically anodized, soo many color choices. So many options. Will be beautiful no matter the material.
