Evil, rotton, horrible idea:

First, this is all "in theory", as I don't want to start a roit.

Would this work:

OK. Go online and buy a pair of Klipsch speakers from a cheap, unauthorized dealer. Take delivery of them. Go to Good Guys and buy that exact same speaker. Put the unauthorized dealer speaker back in the Good Guys box and return it (aka: "I changed my mind") Good Guys has a really good return policy. Vuala: A pair of Klipsch speakers with valid serial #'s.

The catch: Do you need the recipt to have Klipsch factory service preformed, or just valid serial #'s?

Just wondering if a evil plan such as this would work? Again, I would NOT do this (for real), but COULD it work? Good Guys is not smart enough to look at serial #'s, I returned a $300 CD changer and they didn't even look in the open box, they just accepted it.

Somebody at Goog Guys, if they were on the ball and cared about the business, would compare the serial numbers on the cabinets (if any) to the ones on the boxes.

However, when I registered my KLF-20's I did it on line and I don't remember having to produce a copy of the receipt. It pretty much relied on the honor system.

I did that with a 12 volt car starter once.

Paid 70 bucks for the starter, took the guts out of the new starter and put them in the old starter.

Got it to work, and then returned the new starter with the junk guts and got the 70 bucks back.

Told them it was the wrong one.

I couldn't afford the 70 bucks at the time, had to do something, I needed a way around.

But the car was toast, and didn't matter anyway.

sorry, didn't mean to be such a goody 2-shoes. can't say i'm not a wee-bit anti-establishment myself. must be from growing up in the 60s. cwm4.gif

but the risk is either the store will catch it, or whereever they send them or sell them will. for the latter cases the store may get real po'd. especially if they turn out to be counterfeits of some sort. Wink.gif

OK.

I am ONLY asking if it would work. That is all! REALLY!!! Wink.gif

As for the recipt, a recipt printer would do the trick, you could make Good Guys logo's and all the proper info on it.

All I can say is that the Good Guys here in Reno isn't exactly "professional."

if i were klipshc andi knew of a dealer that was not carefulw ith this kind of stuff, i would threaten them losing their authorization, they might call my bluff, but i would not want non authorized speakers going to a real dealer.

Thanks. Had a quote "emergency" MRI done, in otherwords, you get an MRI done that does not have to take a week to get results back on. Anyways, they changed my medicine because I have liver damage now from my old medicine, fun stuff, and they are monitoring the tumor again. They think it could be a whatchamilcallit where it looks small, about the size and shape of a regular marble, but it threads out into other areas making it hard to REALLY determine the size etc. But enough about me Smile.gif

What an Evil, rotton, horrible idea Ken! Smile.gif
