Gandalf007
Are there any guidelines that would help me know whether the rp-280f or rp-260f would be better for my space? Thanks. Sent from my SM-G930P using Tapatalk

Moderators Youthman Posted December 15, 2016 Moderators Share Posted December 15, 2016 My son always says, "Go big or go home". Bigger typically provides a "bigger" sound. I have three LaScalas in a 13' x 19' room. Some say LaScalas need a big room. Bigger room might sound better, but they sound pretty awesome to me. My son has RF-7 and RC-64ii in a 12' x 12' bedroom and sits 3' from them on a rocker chair in front of his bed.

tromprof
I used to limit my speaker size by what I could fit through the door. However my basement speakers were assembled down there to avoid that complication. You have come to the wrong place to ask for sensible advice.

derrickdj1
What size room do you have, how far are the speakers from the seats, basement or upstairs, etc. should all be a consideration. This along with the other gear will help determine speaker size. Also, the primary use. For music, put more money into the speakers. For HT only, smaller speakers paired with subs can be just as impressive. Also, space constrints on placement will also come into play. Family rooms and living rooms may dictate a smaller speaker due to aesthetics and WAF. Only you can answer most of these questions. The two choice of speakers are close enough that if you answer these questions, the right choice can be made. Is this going to be a dedicated HT? List your other gear and post a pic of the room for better feedback.
