richieb
I've seen many varied interests among members and wanting some experienced input on slot car sets. Although the grandsons are quite young they still get a kick out of a el cheapo Wally World set. I'm looking at 1:32 scale vs HO as I've been reading that new HO cars are so magnetized to the track that its not really racing at all but just hold the controller WFO and get dizzy watching them fly around at unrealistic speed. I've got a beautiful pool table that used never used and will make an ideal base. Any thoughts appreciated. Solid state please , no,tube driven cars!!!! DizRotus
I'd go with the 1:32, for the reasons you mentioned.
mungkiman
If your grandsons might have or develop a competitive nature, go with 1:32.

DizRotus
Oh the memories. So many slot cars over the years, from the tiny HO Aurora AFX vibrators to 1:24. My favorite home set was by AMT. The 1:25 scale 1962 "Turnpike" cars had functional steering and could change lanes. You could drift through turns and reverse steer heading into the straight. The problem was the size of the layout took up the whole basement. Arrow#422
Hey buddy, I dare you to put your tongue across those 2 metal strips in your lane................"Toys" of the bygone era were - FUN. Toys today are basically toss in the trash after the initial wow factor wears off. Oh ya, try to find an original set of JARTS.

Getting off topic with the clackers but mine were flung upward into a tree never to be retrieved. Used to buy them at the 5 & dime along with balsa-wood gliders, rubber-band prop planes, cap guns, and TWO for a penny candy in those large glass canisters.
