oldtimer
I was just comparing the themes from a segment of Requiem for the American Dream and Requiem for a Dream. The analogy is the concept of addiction. In one, the addiction is to materialism via uncontrolled spending and living beyond means. In the other the addiction is to drugs, which lead to uncontrollable spending and pushing one's body beyond its means.

oldtimer
You don't have to relate to either to observe and at least have a visceral understanding of them both.

billybob
Credit can be good and bad. Irresponsibility can lead to overdraft fee being applied, as I understand it. Over and beyond that, it will do me no good to complain about the wealthy, unless it should make one feel better, somehow.

oldtimer
Keith---saw a new bit of the same old info today. 40% of americans don't have the savings to handle an unexpected expense of $400. 50% of americans have no retirement savings. The worst bit is that 33% of working americans do not even have access to a 401K or other retirement savings vehicle through the work place. Not only that---it's raining here again... richieb
==== this ^^^^^ And with the last government shutdown it was noted that nearly 80% of the American workforce lives paycheck to paycheck. Why many government workers were finding food pantries and the like — a sad situation to find ones self.
