If you are telling SJ to pack his bags and hit the road simply because of his nationality, are you telling me to get out as well? there are many others on this board who are canadian as well ya know. And by the way, Pearl Harbor in 9-11 are only alike in the fact that they caused mass destruction. Japan wanted to pull the US into the war, the Taliban simply want us out of the middle east, which like I have said many times, is not an unreasonable demand. Japan wanted war, the Taliban just want us to stop bullying them around. And finster, you need to learn some fuching respect. just because someone is of a different nationality, doesn't mean their politcal views should be ridiculed. There are hardly any people left in the US that can say they are %100 american (native americans), and even those who are, crossed the bearing land bridge many thousands of years ago. HDBRbuilder Posted December 5, 2002 Share Posted December 5, 2002 I too have faith in Franks and Powell, but, I am trying to point out that it isn't a reckless strategic plan that is the problem in this situation. Instead, it is the "nature of the beast" in the accomplishment of the missions that will be required...especially if it becomes a protracted engagement and chemical weapons get involved. This is NOT the same situation as our last trip over there. I hope like hell they can find a way to accomplish this so that it doesn't get to the point I fear it will get to!! My worry is not so much in the strategic planning of it, as it is in the tactical maneuver end of things...that is where the danger lies...this likely will NOT end up anything like a race to see who gets there first as it was last time. As a matter of fact, last time around, the "race" outran its dedicated fire support and under other conditions could have been disastrous for at least two divisions!! Asia and Europe are not quite the same as the Middle East. I have been to the Middle East (Saudi Arabia and U.A.E.) actually I found it quite interesting and a culture shock nonetheless, but it was a good one. The Saudis are an interesting group of people.
