Peter P.
I currently have a 2-channel integrated amp. I run my subwoofer from the B-channel outputs and my Heresy's full-range from the A-channel outputs. I'm planning for the future-does anyone sell a 2-channel integrated amp with an LFE/subwoofer output, and adjustable high pass filter for the main speakers? Am I doomed to buy a multi-channel A/V amp to get what I want? Do most such amps have fixed high pass filtering for the main speakers? I'd like to run the Heresy's full-range, filtering off below their 3dB cutoff, and have the subwoofer cover the lowest octave. I'm not looking for high end stuff; I'm thinking along the lines of Yamaha or NAD or similar.
billybob
Am sure there is there but, not sure of the models in my head. Sure another regular will come into it. Like your idea about the subwoofer. Prefer non AVR myself...
Ceptorman
I'm not sure how many integrated have sub controls, not many, but I'm sure some hi dollar units have them though. You could go the pre and amp route, even the lesser dollar units have full bass management adjustments. Or, you could add an electronic crossover going to the sub. I'm sure you sub has level adjustments, are there any other adjustments on your sub?
MC39693
@Peter P. how about a vintage receiver? I use a Luxman R-117, with preamp out to two Velodyne DD10 subs. The main speaker output to 2 channel speakers (right now Cambridge Audio Aero 2 but ultimately Heresy). There are tone controls, which while not the same as a high pass filter but might help shape the main speakers sound? There may be other vintage receivers that come closer. The R-117 is very nice and together with an OPPO BDP has convinced me to sell my Denon x4300h AVR. Keep posting as this is a very good question.
