m00n
Not that it will do a damn bit of good, but I went to rolling stones web site and emailed them my thoughts on their list.... I gave'm hell. letters@rollingstone.com
Vladi
And where is Joe Satriani?!?
cluless
Some of this actually makes sense. Alot of the top ten are top blues guitarists...Blues is the heart and soul of rock, but I would hardly put Duane Allmann as #2. Now what the judging criteria were, is kind of baffling....Okay..I take that back... so it's extremely FRIGGING baffling...How do you compare Joni Mitchell to Keith Richards? I guess that is where the controversy stems from...along with the fact that there have been decades of talented guitar work but how do you identify the innovators? Besides that, the vast majority of the artists listed...I DONT KNOW, so how can I really judge... but what I know... Jack White is a talented new guitarist with a fresh raw talent...but how doees he end up in the top 20? Now Kurt Cobain, is he up there in the ratings because of his post-death cultish following? ...random thoughts. To echo previous posts...where is Satch (Joe Satriani)? I guess he's no longer inventive or just burnt out. Look at VH3 that album tanked and so did his career!
Fish
Disgraceful, what has the world come to?I am glad to know I'm not the only one who thinks this list/order is absurd.Again,I ask no Satch? one of the best guitar players EVER born!and that from a diehard Page,Beck,Alvin Lee,J Winter and all the rest fan. garymd
It's total crap. Kurt Cobain before Jerry Garcia? I'm not complaining about Jerry's placement but Cobain? Where's Leo Kotkie? Duane Allman was an excellent blues guitarist but #2? No way. George Harrison that high? Paaleeze.

jt1stcav
"38 Peter Green of Fleetwood Mac"... What's this? No Linsey Buckingham? He's the heart and soul of Fleetwood Mac, and his fingerpicking technique is legendary! This list blows chunks! Who's the nincompoop who devised this sorry list anyway? Klipschfoot
FZ without SV? (Steve Vai) This list is useless and likely compiled with the help of label reps "tokens of appreciation."

Klipschfoot
No flamenco guitarists on the list. Sorry, Charo. And Christopher Parkening will have to wait to make next year's list. Face it, if you don't smoke ganga, or appeal to those who do, you don't make the list. Pat Metheny. Charlie Hunter. Sorry. I guess this means you, too. Oh, and that Phil Keaggy guy - no Jesus freaks allowed? I guess you have to be dead or in your career twilight to be considered.
Mikekid
I definitely agree that Joe Satriani should be on the list! Mike Campbell of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Don Felder, and Lindsey Buckingham should be included as well. There are so many................. Later Mike
