Most obscene use of K'Horns!

I went to pick up a gun I pruchased yesterday and got to talking to the guy I bought it from about his audio equipment. He is Seriously into vintage SS gear and had 33 Receivers from the 70's plus at least as many amps and other gear!! As we were talking I mentioned my setup and he told me he Loved Klipsch speakers but had recently sold his K'Horns to his neighbor and was replacng them with another set that were in much better cosmetic condition. He asked if I would like to go see his old ones so we walked up the block to his neighbors house. When we got to his den I saw the Horns, but nothing else except his Computer and a Sansui integrated amp on a desk. The Horns were playing, so I finally realized the source was his computer! My first thought was Damn that's a nice set of computer speakers!! 1.gif He told me he was waiting on the rest of his stuff to be shipped from his old home in Virginia and just couldn't wait to listen to the Horns so he picked up the amp at a pawn shop and hooked them to his computer!

"Most obscene use of K'Horns!"

I was afraid we were going to see a link to some very kinky porno site. Or a picture of someone listening to a John Tesh album. Or some weird combination. Maybe BBB can "whip" something up?

At least he wasn't running them as the front channels off of his PM5.1 amp

...wait 1 min. here, I ran my Khorns off my PM 2.400 (first ver.) for a while.

I had no corners in the main room and my receiver was down...only music I had...have you ever used Khorns for headphones? My pc could rock!

Tony,

That was Ross Taylor and Doug Drake, in a Hope motel, during the original Klipsch pilgrimage. Ross couldn't wait to get home to try out his brand-spankin' new Heresies, so he and Doug rewired the room's radio!

What an incredible trip to have been on! Participants got to visit with Paul & Valerie, as guests in their home! The photos were truly inspirational...maybe Doug will see this, and post a shot or two!

fini,

I remember it well... I was there. The Heresy actually sounded decent for being rigged to a clock radio. Man, that was a great trip, everything just seemed to come together. The factory, theater room, museum, the Jubilee, dinner and of course the wonderful time at Mr. Paul & Miss Valerie's house. We actually played our music on PWK's system while discussing audio with him. It just doesn't get any better than that!

Paul, your mentioning the Heresies as computer speakers brings back some memories. In '94 or '95 or so I had my 486-66 with its SoundBlaster 16 hooked up to the old 1982 Kenwood receiver feeding the Heresies. Doom II never sounded so good!

Hey, Doom III comes out soon. The Heresies may just be moving to the office . . . heh heh heh.

I saw K horns three feet from the walls all around in a high end store... Like the "esoteric high end ones" usually are... He thought the side backs..were taken off for some reason? Said no bass really, and they sold em the day before for $ 600. for the pair.. Oiled walnut, I believe.

If he wasn't such a "I am better than you SNOT FACE etc..." I would have corrected him and said.. "Geeze... Suppose those might sound good back in the corner..??" I called three of my Klipsch friends, and we all had a great laugh too.

Well, the guy certainly upgraded from his computer source today! I went to the shooting range with him and when we got back to his house the truck was there waiting with his stuff from Virginia. 7 Boxes each containing at Least 2 pieces of vintage McIntosh gear that he has collected over the last 20 years! I bet his Horns sound better tomorrow than they did this morning! The one Non-McIntosh piece he had was a Marantz 2130 tuner. He said he had never had a better Tuner so he couldn't bring himself to replace it.
