thebes
In once sense we're all Walter Mitty's we spend our humbdrum days dreaming of ourselves as the hero, the lover, the preacebringer, the bad boy, whatever. So when your feeling a litle nasty, a little counter-culture, a little rebellous what do you throw on the changer. Ok you Clints, you Ahrnolds' you SteveMcQueens what you makes you feel like you have bicepts of iron and a jaw of steel, a lick of hair over your forehead, a tight T, a rebellous slouch. Any genre any time. I'm going to reach way back for a good the days of the sock hops. HE'S A REBEL (Gene Pitney) The Crystals See the way he walks down the street Watch the way he shuffles his feet How he holds his head up high When he goes walking by-y-y-y-y-y He's my guy When he holds my hand I'm so proud 'Cos he's not just one of the crowd I bet he's always the one To try the things I've never done and just because of that they will say -- Hey! He's a rebel and he'll never ever be - any good He's a rebel 'cos he never ever does - what he should And just because he doesn't do what - everybody else does That's no reason why I can't give him all my love He is always good to me - always treats me tenderly He's not a rebel, no-no-no He's not a rebel, no-no-no - to me-e-e-e If they don't like him that way They won't like me after today I'll be standing right by his side - when they say He's a rebel and he'll never ever be - any good He's a rebel 'cos he never ever does - what he should and just because he doesn't do what - everybody else does That's no reason why - we can't share a love He is always good to me - always treats me tenderly He's not a rebel, no-no-no He's not a rebel, no-no-no - to me-e-e-e (he's not a rebel - no-no-no) No-no-no (he's not a rebel - no-no-no) (he's not a rebel - no-no-no) No-no-no (he's not a rebel - no-no-no)
ben.
I threw these on while slaving away around the house the other day, getting ready for Birthday #1... Kicks a... um, butt! Obviously, I'm just starting to age. Nothing like 90's hard rock...

Myhamish
Hi there Thebes, First of all, congratulations on your newest acquisition at the estate sale. I enjoyed your story and wish you years of enjoyment. When I'm in a rebellious mood, I bring out the Billy Idol' 'Greatest Hits' - find 'White Wedding' - and let it crank. For some reason, 'Rebel Yell' isn't on that CD. and jvencius, how about 'Porridge Men' doing 'Gulravage' or Chris Armstrong doing 'Quantum Leap'.... Yeah, Right! ---------------- One of the most surreal moments in my erstwhile youth was watching the 94 winter games ice dancing competition with that whole record cranked. It actually made sense at the time. I ended up getting drunk with Brad, their drummer a few months (I think-sequential issues are abundant with my memory of that period of my life) later. He was complaining about all the funk that Zach wanted to do. He actually called me the next AM to jam, but I was not at all into playing hard rock at the time. Duh. fastlane
My rebellious self comes out when I get home a few minutes early and the wife and kids aren't home (shopping, etc...) Then I pick either a cd or dvd and crank it to my personal comfort level. I may sit in my recliner with my eyes closed until suddenly the music gets much quieter. They're home!!!!! And occasionally I will smoke the FRONT tires on our Nissan Altima 3.5se.

I assume it's basically the Altima 3.5. That car smokes! It's hard not to drive it fast.

Joe Shmoe
"Metallica died with Cliff Burton" Although I do agree that Cliff was an excellent bass player & Metallica put out some excellent albums with him, Jason Newstead isn't far behind. Metallica still put out some quality albums with Jason. You can't tell me "In Justice For all" doesn't kick ... The "Black Album" was a little more mainstream, but it still rocked! ben.
"Justice..." is one of most ill-conceived productions in rock history. It's well done, just a bad idea. Too dry, no real bass. I like the tunes, though.
thebes
Joe that "lounder than Hell' is go to be thebest name ever for a rock album. SuperLOL Here's one by Johnny Cash that will get the old codgers humming along: "The Rebel-Johnny Yuma" Johnny Yuma was a rebel He roamed through the west Did Johnny Yuma, the rebel He wandered alone He got fightin' mad This rebel lad He packed no star As he wandered far Where the only law Was a hook and a draw The rebel, Johnny Yuma He searched the land This restless lad He was panther quick And leather tough If he figured that He'd been pushed enough The rebel, Johnny Yuma Fightin' mad This rebel lad With a dream he'd hold 'Til his dyin' breath He'd search his soul And gamble with death The rebel, Johnny Yuma
