Tom Mobley
I can't even begin to imagine the arguments audiophiles would get into if this somehow spreads.... out there on the fringe.....
D-MAN
I've heard of some music being "tasty", but SHEESH! I'd take a good pizza instead. DM
dolbyscat
Yeah i can just hear it now,or maybe i should say taste it now.You say it sounds like chocolate, and thirty other audiophiles have thirty different opinions.
3dzapper
I don't know about y'all, but I keep all my tastey things out there in the fridge..... And it's music to my ears. Rick
oscarsear
Well....autistics and savants and other curious brain types can indeed be hotwired. Their brains are not structured the same as ours. They can turn out amazing artwork, but be unable to speak. It's quite possible then that someone could taste a sound. It's known for example that people can see numbers as individual 3 dimensional shapes. The movie Rain Man was a true story about just such a person. He is still alive. Can't dress himself but can remember absolutely everything he's ever seen, read or heard. He's been tested by the best and has never been wrong once!!! His brain isn't divided into hemispheres..it's all one hunk-o-memory.
yaffstone
This used to be described as a flash back. I suppose that's no longer politically correctd.
coda
That tastes like jazz. . "Flash back" would be remembering a similar article posted yesterday. Here's a recent update. Check out the taste tones at bottom.

Marvel
Some people also see different colors for differnt sounds or pitches. It can be a hell for them. This is very well documented in medical literature. Marvel
mark1101
I saw the guy on Leno that can swallow stuff and yuke it back up on command. He swallows live goldfish and can bring them back up in sequence like "the orange one first then, the black one." I also saw the guy that creates paintings by swallowing the paint and puking on the canvas. The world is just one big special place. It would seem that the music lady should get tastes from other everyday sounds as well, like traffic, conversations, etc. to the point where she would go crazy. maxg
Just to touch on what autistic savants can do my brother is autistic and he is known as a Calendrical Savant - tell him the date and he will tell you the day. He is never wrong. We do not know how he does it and he cant explain it - he just sees it is the best he can come up with. We watched Rain man together. At the end of the film I grabbed a pack of cards, threw all but 3 down on the table and asked: "what cards am I holding in my hand?" His reply was instantaneous: "No idea." Typcial - he proves to be normal just when I was planning to bankrupt a casino or 2.... How do you make money out of being a human calandar? fletcherkane
I have a book on my shelf that is titled (no kidding) "Perfect Pitch through Color Awareness" It's a little book and its premise is out there somewhere, but "color hearing" can be learned. When a song is played in the Key of F major, my brain sees brown. Just me....
oscarsear
I just remembered....we can all do this ourselves!!! Does anyone besides me recall those wonderful "light bars" that used to be installed into autos in the lates 60s??? Just a stupid little musical expression of psychodelic light tuned into whatever was on the 8 track. Wooooo...oooo...EEEE!!!
Klipsch RF7
I know exactly what they are talking about, whenever I listen to some Diana Krall, I can taste her
Tom Adams
My wife's youngest brother is both retarded and autistic. If not for the retardation, I suspect (and so do his parents) that Lawrence would lead a relatively normal life. Lawrence's specialty is music/artist. To drown out the "noise" (can't stand fireworks, can hear thunder waaaay before we can, etc.) of his surroundings, he listens to music via his "walkman" and head phones. Once he hears a song and is told who the artist is, it's there - forever! Tell him a song title and he'll tell you the artist. From Gospel to Bluegrass to classic rock to whatever he's heard. Simply amazing. And you can play or hum or sing a tune to him and he'll finish it words & all and can tell you the title and artist. It's a bit tough to understand him due to the retardation, but you can make out the words nonetheless. His only downfall is that he loves Selene Dione (sp?). But don't worry, I'm working on him. Yep - Lawrence is cool. Tom
