Silversport:

I have never read of a smile limitation, nor a restriction of use. The Moderators would have any comment.

I will be out to try some at one point.

Tony: You have given two excellent Posts today. A voice of Sanity. You are to be commended.

Setl: The ice can be a problem, i agree.

We have a semi verdict though - Pizza is well worth eating. Thank you for your input Amy. It gave food for thought.3.gif12.gif

Wow wow wow what I would have given to see Talking Heads in the day. I am so jealous. David Byrne is freaking brilliant love his solo work too. The rest of the show didn't look to shabby either 2.gif . I have seen the b52s and elvis but i would have trade both for Talking Heads.

There you go; you yourself don't like SET enough to have it.

There are very few SET owners indeed who don't have amps of other typologies around for when they don't want to be restricted to certain music at certain volumes on certain speakers. On the other hand, there are very few owners of push-pull and other typology amps who feel the need to bother with SETs.

Then when you add in that the people most into the low watt cheapie chip amps are SET fans, that shows even more dissatisfaction with the typology, not just by those who have rejected it outright after hearing it, but by those who own it.

Opinions are opinions, but the physics of audio science are facts. A couple-watt SET amp will easily clip with normal music, and you don't need the 1812 cannon to do it. Can such a distortion-box/limiter have some kind of special appeal? Apparently so. But whether or not one likes the sound, it's still clipping.

In all seriousness, I take that as a great compliment coming from you.

I find that the classical or the meat lover's does sound best as there is enough balance and enough to make a statement.

Sorrentos at 5800 W. Madsion was the best pizza in Chicago but it's long gone.

Phils on Halstead around 35th is very good. As is Palermos at 95th and Cicero.

And the Home Run Inn on 31st St. Back in the day my Dad would drive over there from Austin and Madison to get a pie.

Now that I'm a Nort' Sider I get Tadeno's on Sheridan north of Foster. Very thin crust, cracker-like and lots of toppings and cheese. We get sausage, green peppers, mushrooms and onions.

If you like an Ike Sewell type thick crust Ricobenes on 26th St. does a great Unos clone. Their thin pizza is very good too not to mention the breaded steak sandwichs and fresh-cut fries.

Poochies on Dempster in Skokie. Great burgers grilled over an open fire. Excellent fresh-cut fries. Good hot-dogs too and for the North Side a very passable Italian Beef sandwich.

Best corned beef and pastrami is Manny's on Jefferson at 12th St. A rueben and potato pancake there will make you plotz.

Right up 12th St. is Jim's Original, the same Polish sausage joint that used to be at Maxwell and Halstead before the Yuppies came, the place you see in The Blues Brothers movie. Fried Polish with grilled onions and mustard. Pork chop sandwiches too.
