dp1954
Hey Guys. Just checked budmans auction on ebay and looks like he has sold his belles. To bad, I was hoping to buy them but not at the price they went for. Good for him, sad for me. I also thought I had a line on a pair of khorns from a second chance offer on ebay. After checking this one out I can't verify the the sender of the email and the buyer are one and the same. Makes me leary and ain't gonna follow up on them. I emailed the guy who had the auction and he said that he never emaied me. I smell a rat. Anyhow, I really want to get into the fully horn loaded side of heritage. I'm selling a pair of chorus I's to make room for a new pair. The setup on my house will make it very hard to properly place khorns but I might be able to figure out a way with false corners. My house was built in 1850 and I have radiaters in all the good corners. The belles or even lascalas would work better. I prefer the belles, but would consider lascalas in good shape and not black. Wife has to accept them and most of our furniture is walnut. I would look at belles or khorns in oak if that is all I can find. You just don't see them advertised for sell where I live. I'd be willing to pickup within 500 miles of Roanoke va. I prefer buying here on the board because I trust you guys awhole lot more than the guys on ebay. I am watching audiogon. I just love my cornwalls and you guys have convinced me that the other heritage is just as good or better. I want to find out. My corns aren't going anywhere except with me in my grave. Anyhow, any body got something for sell along these lines contact me at my email on the bulletin board here or at work at. dave.potter@bellsouth.com Willing to pay a fair price on these items. I know its hard to sell the babies. Thanks dave
dkp
I've got a pair of Lascalas (1977 AL-3 crossover) and four academies (1993) that I'm going to be selling some time soon. All six have been painted white, although I have a good friend who is a professional painter and can paint them for me prior to the sale. If you're interested, send me an e-mail and we can discuss the details. A local Klipsch dealer also has a pair of Belles (1974 WO) and K-horns (WO-forgot the year) on consignment. Belles are $2500 and K-horns $3500. I can give you their number if you would prefer the Belles... My zip code is 48423 (Michigan). dp1954
hey dkp. Thanks for the headups but I'm hoping to get a decent set for 2000 or less. These are one of my addictions but I'm also into old cars and they take a chunk to keep up. I should be able to find what I'm looking for in that price range. But I do appreciate the response. Hear about anything along those lines please let me know. What are your wanting for the lascalas? Can they be stripped and stained walnut or is that to much pain in the rear. I like the belles because of their looks but I could dress the lascalas up in a fashion dress, heels and stockings and my wife might accept them. thanks dave
tuned4life
hello, im thinking about selling my la scalla's. you can still view pics from the ebay auction i won them on. ebay item# 5772194830. im sure i would sell them if i can recoup my investment. i bought them from original owner. they were listed as mint and i would have to say that they are infact mint, not perfect cosmetically but probably as nice as you could hope to find untouched original raw birch. unfortunately one tweeter was blown. i have replaced both tweeters with same year (1982) k 77 m tweeters. they came with al crossovers which worked fine but i have installed bob crites AA reconditioned crossovers. im in western n.y. i have a firend in charrlotte nc and its 700 miles from my driveway to his. you are probably about 500 miles, maybe a little less. easy drive though. get on interstate 81 and set the cruise. if interested you can email me at lugnutdoug@hotmail.com
dp1954
Hey Tuned. I sent you an email. You can also reply on this thread. Those look nice, I'd rather have belles or khorns but will consider the las if I can get a a decent price and they are in good shape both cosmetically and electronically. I got into klipsh about 6 or 7 years ago. Bought a pair of kg3.5 and really thought they stunk. I was running 2 pairs of jbls at the time and they didn't match up. but I started lurking on this forum and really decided to try again. I purchased a pair of rf3s and really liked them. then I thought, lets go bigger. I purchased a pair of klf20's and loved them. then I bought another pair of them. Now I was rocking!! But the bug continues. Next came the chorus and then a pair of cornwalls. Now I was in love. Found another pair of corns on audiogon that litterally look brand new(75's) and sold the other pair of corns to garymd. Didn't have room for all of them so I kept the chorus because they gave me a diffent sound and the grills matched my 75 corns. hard decision but sometimes I like to swap amps and speakers and enjoy the different sounds. now it's time to go fully hornloaded. Thanks

joessportster
i would stay clear of the sale on ebay the discription makes no sense at all, any one selling belles surely knows what they are and information is easily available, also no feedback but been registered since 1998 FISHY INDEED, joe

I emailed the seller regarding serial # and pictures. He replied with a few pics. The cabs are in nice shape, NOT new condition. The pics of the back of the cabs showed a lot of wear and dust, not exactly new condition. Also, the price is per speaker.
colterphoto1
I concur, I wouldn't touch that Bell (sic) speaker 'set'. The person selling has no idea what he's talking about. Just waiting for a sucker. How bout another pair of Cornwalls? You sound very happy with yours. Placement wouldn't be a problem. I too have baseboard radiators and have thought about Khorns, but I'd have to put em up on 10" risers to get them in the corners, then there's other acoustical problems. IMHO, don't force Khorns where they don't fit. Others will disagree. Michael
DoubleJ
The only advice I can give is take your time and the right pair of speakers will come along. I have searched/waited for Belles for about 5 years and finally last week I was able to score a pair that was only 80 miles away. The only concession I made was that they were Oak and IMO it wasn't a huge compromise. Good Luck on your search, or what I like to call a 'Quest', for Heritage Speakers. Jon P.S. The above mentioned Belles are the ones that Cut-Throat, a forum member, had for sale. I'll be posting a review/comparison very soon. dp1954
Hey Guys. I saw those belles in Maryland first thing this morning. I caught something in the fine print down around the ship info that said something about 1400ea. I emailed him and the auction is not clear but he wants 1400 A PIECE. He sent me some pics and they appear to be from the mid 70's. Alnico tweets, mids with AA crossovers. They appear to be in good condition but really get serious. I sent him back an email and let him know in a nice way that he was asking way over the going rate. I'm home for lunch and just had a second to check in. As far as more corns, I sold a pair of them last year and really want to try the fully horn loaded. So for now not interested in another pair of them altho to me they are the best speakers I've ever heard. Never heard Khorns, belles or las but I am going to check them out. I'll find a pair. Thanks for any help you can give me. I have an email from a forum member with some nice lascalas but I would prefer walnut bells or khorns. I still might consider them after I've had a chance to respond to his email. Got to get back to work. Somebody has to pay the bills. Thanks guys. great forum dave

This would be around 8 miles or so from I-75/I-69 and maybe 2 from I-475/I-69. Both pairs are on consignment. David **EDIT** Sorry, I see you wanted this e-mailed to you... I recall them, and those are a great-looking pair of Belles. No matter what speakers I own in the future, I will always keep a pair of Belles. Hope you enjoy yours as much as I've enjoyed mine. Carl. tigerwoodKhorns
I have a pair of Walnut Belles that are in perfect condition (Type AB crossover) that I will sell at a discounted price of $1500, but you, being a car guy, have to buy my Jaguar XJ6C (2 door coupe only ~2000 made)for $11,000. It is completely restored with a small block chevy and I have well over $20,000 in the car. It is a desert rust free car, new leather interior with solid mahagony everywhere, Vintage air ac and heat, Autometer guages, GM wiring, 700r4, 3.31 posi from a shelby cobra, etc. I will sell the Jaguar without the Belles, but not the other way around. I can post pics. Chris
dp1954
Thanks for the offer but if you really want to sell the belles maybe we can work something out. I really hate to have a pair shipped and nevada is a little to far tp drove Sorry but I can't buy the jag. I'd have to sell either my 63 vette coupe or 67 convertible. Let me know if you really want to sell the belles. budman sold his which I am glad for him but still looking.
dp1954
Hey guys. Good news. I have found a really nice pair of lascalas in Richmond va and the guy is going to meet me halfway next weekend. He has them listed on ebay and has 2 pairs. I talked with him and he is gonna sell me the best of the pair. the other pair only had a nick on the bass bin, not bad but I wanted the pair with no scratches on them. He also has a pair of cornwalls for sell and if anybody is interested in a pair in richmond I can send you his email address Don't know the specs on them, color, year etc and didn't ask because I was sucking up on the las and am not shopping for corns. Love mine tho, best speakers I've heard. Really looking forward to getting the las He is giving them to me for 1100 which I feel is fair and he says they are 15 years old. Don't have the serial numbers yet or the crossover but from what I've heard on the board they all sound good. He'll supply me with those tomorrow. I can always get different crossovers. I've heard the AL's are not the best and at this age that might be what they have. Heck, at this rate I just might become a regular poster on the forum. Go for 200 so somebody will give me a pair of Khorns. Just a jab at gary. Great guy and he deserved them. And I am a bit jealous. Thanks dave
