bluesboy
Hows that for a home theater system!
CONVERGENCE
Yes the problem was that to manny large theatres used the wrong cabinets or the small A7. They should have used the A4 instead for 1200 seats. Today the sound is thrown at the viewer instead of being capted in a normal way. The A4 weighs 600 lbs each. The space between the screen and the back wall has to be more than what the current cineplex are built for. dlb945
Thanks for posting the picture. What a kick! I was never fortunate enough to have visited the back side of the movie screens either in the past or recently.
djk
"The space between the screen and the back wall has to be more than what the current" The THX approved JBL4675 is the most frequently found speaker in the smaller multiplex theaters. It is not much smaller in depth than an A4, about a 2" difference.

djk
If you have subs you don't need the wings on the A4s. An A4 without the wings is not much wider than the cabinets shown. Plenty of room. 815As with subs would work well too.
CONVERGENCE
Good Idea, It's up to the major thatre chain to at least give it a try. They have nothing to loose and a lot to gain especially with the baby boomer generation. Guest BobG
Spece behind the screen is precious. These days, theaters are requesting very shallow speakers so they can use that space for seats in front of the screen. We've developed slim line cinema speakers that are less than 22" deep to respond to this trend.
