Sorry about the delay, wasn't online much this weekend...

That was Sinead OConnor's first album, The Lion and the Cobra, song was Jackie... We'll try a much easier one...

Smile an everlasting smile, a smile can bring you near to me.

Don't ever let me find you down, cause that would bring a tear to me.

"No Way, Ray!" .... where impossible becomes easy!

Aww, com'on, guys... this is, like, one of the most recognizable songs

ever recorded... [:$] at least to those of us who are over, uh,

40-ish...

Smile an everlasting smile, a smile can bring you near to me.

Dont ever let me find you down, cause that would Bring a tear to me.

This world has lost its glory, lets start a brand new story now, my love.

Right now, therell be no other time and I can show you how, my love.

Talk in everlasting words, and dedicate them all to me.

And I will give you all my life, Im here if you should call to me.

You think that I dont even mean a single word I say.

Its only words, and words are all I have, to take your heart away.

Music snip

Let's try this one...

The poor cook he caught the fits

And threw away all my grits

And then he took and he ate up all of my corn

Let me go home

Why dont they let me go home

This is the worst trip Ive ever been on

Don't feel bad about the age I am 40 + 2 weeks just not my cup of tea...but I do think it was a pretty popular song.

Time to mix things up a little bit. Remember way back when on the old rock stations they would have something like Two For Tuesday? They would play two songs from the same band all day. Typically one was a well known number and the other was a little more obscure. Well lets play 2-4-Monday. We will give an easier one so you know the band/artist then a little less know one to make it fun. You have to get both right to be the next one posting lyrics. Here we go.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

#1
Well, we got no choice
All the girls and boys
Makin' all that noise
'Cause they found new toys
Well, we can't salute ya
Can't find a flag
If that don't suit ya
That's a drag

#2
Told her that I came from <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Detroit city
and I played guitar in a long haired rock and roll band
She asked me why the singer's name was
Alice
I said listen baby you really wouldn't understand

Good, strong first effort - Ray. You are so close. You got the words all right except for one with the Ronette's song. How about I give you the lead up to the title all but the one word you are missing.

And I said baby if you wanna be my ????? you better take me home
'cause it's a long long way to paradise and I'm still on my own on my own

EDIT: BTW Killer 1971 is the album snake on the cover I think. I grew up in Detroit, so the "Detroit" line probably got it some more air play there then the rest of the U.S.

Here is a couple for ya. 1-I don't know why I love her like I do. All the changes that you put me through. Take my money, my cigarettes. I haven't seen the worst of it yet. 2- I can't seem to face up to the facts. I'm tense and nervous and I can't relax. I can't sleep cause my beds on fire. Don't touch me I'm a real live wire. PS I don't know how to start a new paragraph. That's why it's all in one blob. Can someone help me?

O, hahahahahahahahahha post-padding[:D]

All, My intent was for you not to post the answer until you know them both. That is why I said I knew the first one, but did not post an answer.

Ray, that is my stream of consciousness writing style. It all makes sense to me and just spews out of my finger tips. Sorry for those of you caught in my wake.[:P]

Have fun if you keep it up...but the 2-4-Monday was more or less a flop in my mind. I am off to visit with my in-laws who are in town. How did this one day Thanksgiving thing from 200 years ago turn into a week long event that takes more effort then X-mas?[*-)][8-)]

Olorin -

Tina Turner did "Take Me to the River" on a dance single back in the mid-80's sometime. I don't think I ever saw it on an album. Think some of the lyrics were quite a bit different, too.

okay, try this...

Some all-hot half-shot was headin' for the hot spot snappin' his fingers clappin' his hands

And some fleshpot mascot was tied into a lover's knot with a whatnot in her hand

And now young Scott with a slingshot finally found a tender spot and throws his lover in the sand

And some bloodshot forget-me-not whispers daddy's within earshot save the buckshot turn up the band

"Take me to the River" is another of those songs that really gets

around. The Talking Heads' 1978 recording from their "More Songs

about Buildings and Food" album is probably the best known, but the song was

written by Al Green and appears on his 1974 "Explores your Mind" LP.

You've posted lyrics to "Blinded by the Light," penned and first

recorded by Bruce Springsteen but generally known as Manfred Mann's

most played song on AOR/classic rock stations.

[:)]

Well I dont know what Ive been told

You never slow down, you never grow old

Im tired of screwing up, Im tired of goin down

Im tire of myself, Im tired of this town

Oh my my, oh hell yes

Honey put on that party dress

Buy me a drink, sing me a song,

Take me as I come cause I cant stay long

Finally got one. It's been awhile. Tom Petty: "Mary Jane's Last Dance."

Okay, I'm going to have to try to stump everyone like Ray.

Try this:

"I come to you in a blue blue room

By some abuse and some heart

You raise the blinds say, 'Let's have light on life,

Let's watch it fall apart. Let's watch it fall apart.'"

Name that Tune!
