Moderators dtel Posted December 5, 2005 Moderators Share Posted December 5, 2005 I was just thinking i would have liked to hear what he thought about this forum. At the very least he had to be proud of the fact that so many people really enjoy what he made. I said really enjoy because most people just buy them and rarely use them ,but many listen every day and would not want to go without their Klipsch. It must have been a good feeling to read about so many people who would not want to do without what you created.
Jeff Matthews
I think he probably laughed all the way to the big bank in the sky, seeing all these members paying thousands of dollars a pop to upgrade from the "bass shy" LaScalas to the "more rotund" K-Horns - rather than turn the bass knob on their pre-amp to the right a little. Moderators dtel Posted December 5, 2005 Author Moderators Share Posted December 5, 2005 Yes i am sure the money helped to try things he might not have had a chance to without it. But there is always a few things money can't buy.
Ray Garrison
Turning up the bass knob on a pre-amp when driving La Scalas is kind of like putting a shaker hood scoop on a '74 Pinto...
Jeff Matthews
Turning up the bass knob on a pre-amp when driving La Scalas is kind of like putting a shaker hood scoop on a '74 Pinto... Actually, a better analogy would be "It is more like pulling the cotton balls out of your ears!" LOL, Ray! []

JohnA
As far as we know, Mr. Paul was aware of the Forums (in the previous incarnation) and our discussions. We were never aware that he entered any of them and apparently had little interest in the Internet or computers in general. Miss Valerie did, so I'm sure he was aware that the Forums provided a point of contact and helped us get together for the original "Klipsch Fans Tour of Hope". I believe much of our discussions about tweaks and mods would not have been given favorable treatment by Mr. Paul. The engineer in me is/would have been tolerant of our efforts and in his younger years he may have been more tolerant, too. Engineering is the art and science ot trade-offs for cost; if I'm willing to add $300 to the cost of my speakers for my pleasure, fine, but for most, it doesn't offer enough benefit to bother with. By the time I met him he had personally tested most of the capacitor types and inductor configurations so that he knew what their effect was and knew we are/might be fooling ourselves and be getting no improvement at all, or maybe we are getting 1% for 25% more money. Daddy Dee
I'd also add my thanks. What Jon has described, I take to be a fair reading on Mr. Paul's approach to the forum.
