Are the RF 7's worth the money HAVE NOW PURCHASED NEW ???s

The RF-7s are a good home theater speaker for the money. A new and probably more expensive Reference 4 line will be out next year. If you buy RF-7s now, you need to get an RC-7 with them as a center channel.

Your H/K 635 is one of the better receivers to run the RF-7s. The RF-7s are very power hungry, high sensitivity not withstanding.

I already have the center.

So the new version will be higher priced.

I also have the rf35's that I would assume I would use a rear abn put the new Rf 7 as fronts.

I am using the 35 for fronts now, will I see $ 1700.00 difference?

Mr, Magoo I appreciate your info it is always helpful

They are worth the price - they are great sounding speakers as are the rf35's - but asking if you will see a $1700.00 difference only your ears can answer. My RF5's are a joy to listen to in my room - RF7's would just be another sweet addition!

I am looking at purchasing a pair of RF -7 Price $ 1700.00. are they worth the money. Main use home theater? powered by HK 635

You are asking a very biased group but a very satisfied group, IMO.

Your money will be well spent. I replaced my upper end two channel speakers for the reference series to complete my home theater. I am very happy with the results and do not feel I gave up anything in sound quality. If anything, I gained a system with much tighter, cleaner bass making the entire system sound better.

As suggested, you defineately want to get the RC7 while you are at it. The sub and rear surrounds can wait until your wallet recovers.

Hope this helps.

Happy Holidays!

The 7's are a great speaker,for HT I don't think you'll find(new)

better at anywhere near the price.I was prepared to spend another $1k

but could'nt find anything in that price to outperform the 7's.They're

pretty good on music too.You may find em' cheaper but I prefer a 5yr

warranty so 1700 is inline. As Mcgoo is constantly saying(rightly

so)they do love power( algebra not withstanding). The 635 will do a very

nice job, better than most 1k avr's but for the last percentile of what

the 7's can deliver a minimum few hundred watts is needed(you can

always add power).Disclaimer-ALL IMO.

Yes the 7s are more than worth it. I have RF3-IIs which are basically the same as your RF35s. When I upgraded to RF7s I moved my 3s to the back and it sounds fantastic.

Value is always a personal type of decision. IMO RF-7s in front with RF-35s in back adds up to a killer system for both movies and multi-channel music. Speakers will be with you much longer than most of the other components in a home theater.

Now to the down side. You may want a bigger amp for the 7s, if you get them. Outboard amps are another long-term investment in a system. My view is that a long-term system (theater) plan is a good way to avoid mistakes.

As others have said, give them a listen, keeping in mind that in-store demos are rarely close to optimum.

I'd say the RF-7s are definately worth the money. Before I upgraded to

7s, I had RF-5s with a RC-7. Very noticable improvement after getting

the 7s. And yes, use your RF-35s as surrounds. IMO theres nothing like

having good floorstanders pulling surround duty.

Also, I agree with MrMcGoo about in store demos not being the best.

When I demoed my 7s, they weren't exactly setup in an ideal manner. Too

many speakers in too small of a room. Once I got them setup at home

they sounded far better than in the store.

I bought the Rf-7's for 1600.00. i HOPE THEY SOUND FOR THE PRICE.

nOW i HAVE A hk 635, WHAT SHOILD i BE LOOKING FOR IN A AMP.

i WANT TO STAY AROUND 800 TO $ 1000.00

tHANKS FOR ALL YOUR HELP ON THE SPEAKERS

If the final goal is to complete a home theater system, I think you could get by with your existing receiver.

I would get a center channel first, then a subwoofer. Klipsch is discontinuing this line and it is getting harder and harder to find a deal on the reference series. The RF7s are extremely sensitive and will get by with far less power than other speaker designs. A separate amp would be my last purchase in ones effort to complete a system.

Happy Holidays!
