bdbaba
Which version of heresy would be the best center for Forte 1? At least until I can find another Forte1? Thanks.
Malcolm
Heresy II
bdbaba
Thanks Malcolm! If I cannot find a heresy 2, and am willing to pay out the nose, would an academy work?
fmushkin
The Academy. It works, believe me.
SilverSport
I believe the Academy is a sonic voice match for the Forte (Quartet, Forte, Chorus)...they aren't THAT hard to find but you might pay 4-500 or so...good hunting...several here were selling Academys recently. DrWho
ya, i'd vote for academy over the heresy
bdbaba
Aloha and Thanks for all the help! I am still looking for another forte on island--may the Hawaiian Klipsch Gods shine on me! Barring that, I will keep my eyes out for an Academy or a Heresy 2--whichever presents itself first!
Frzninvt
The Heresy II will not blend well with the Forte's it is way too forward, others have tried it. Best bet is a Quartet, Forte' or the Academy. Others have used the KV-3 and KG 2.2V or KG 2.5V, not a perfect match but somewhat workable. DrWho
Well the forwardness of the heresy can be fixed by boosting the woofer volume an extra 3dB. It was designed with 3dB of corner gain in mind so mounting the speaker in a normal center channel position will require some attenuation. The crossover mod can be easily done for around $10. But even then, I'd argue the academy should be a better match.
bdbaba
Thanks again. It seems more cost effective--and sound effective--to get a single Forte or pair of Fortes rather then an Academy. The one on ebay right now is already over $600! Quite steep when you can get a pair of Fortes for less. If it were not for the shipping to Hawaii! The Academy alone would be about $90. "Doh! Stupid Paradise!"
Cal Blacksmith
As I said in your other thread, we are using a Heresy 1 as a center and it sounds great to us. Not PERFECT but pretty darn close.
bdbaba
Aloha Everyone, Thanks for all the advice. I decided to get both a heresy 2 and an academy to see which one sounds the best with the fortes. Although I am still evaluating, the heresy 2 definitely seems to be the winner. It is clearer sounding and just seems to fit right in soundwise with the fortes. I am going to give it another week auditioning, but it looks like the heresy is going to stay in the center spot until another forte turns up. Now to get Dean to upgrade my crossovers! Thanks again. oldtimer
What finish and condition on your Academy? Maybe we can swap before you do something rash. Mine is painted black over what used to be oak clear, and is in perfect working order.
