Piranha
A real shame. I have some fond childhood memories of The Andy Griffith Show. The Incredible Mr. Limpet was another favorite. RIP Mr. Knotts

His career began with a ventriloquist act at age 13. He went on to study speech and drama at West Virgina University. Of course, to us he will always be our friend, Barn. "How to Frame a Figg" (1971) Note titles in quotes (") are TV series. I will miss him too. I loved the Andy Griffith show myself as well. Still find myself off and on watching an episode and trying to guess if I can guess what is going to happen as soon as it starts.. ( I am sure I have seen them all.) One of the things I find amazing was in the very beginning Andy was going to play the funny guy and Barney the straight man. Watch the Movie "No Time For Sargeants" and see ANDY at his best as a silly kid from the hills.. Going into the service, and Barney trying to be a straight Psychologist (checking Andy out..) LOL. It is priceless. #28 on the list. For Andy Griffith to step aside and let the real Don Knotts charachter be the funny guy is amazing to me. RIP Don.. You will live on TV forever. Myhamish
God Bless Don Knotts and thank you, I believe the term 'widget' was from one of his movies. He was a business mogul making widgets. Am I correct? Anybody know which movie that was from? Hamish
Gilbert
Well, all of us boomers just got a little bit older. RIP Barn'. Bite your tongue!! I from the tail end of the Boomer generation. RIP Barney, and know that I have been recording all the old Andy G. shows for my little ones. How's Trey holding together? Haven't seen him post yet. SteelerFan
That's a shame. He created one of TV's most beloved characters. I read where Darin McGavin also died. Remember him as the original star of "The Night Stalker"?

Am I correct? Anybody know which movie that was from? Hamish I don't know which of his movies contained "widget," but the term existed long before Don Knotts. "Widget" has been in the dictionaries for many years.
meagain
I've actually been Tivo-ing certain 'Barney' episodes the last couple months. Brilliant. MSNBC just showed an interview with Andy. OMG! He said "I just lost my best friend". Said he was with him Just before he died. Said he kept talking to him, telling him to keep breathing. Had tears in his eyes. Stunning interview really. He was obviously quite greif-stricken. I knew they were close, but didn't realize THAT close. Death-bed level. I wonder if Larry King will have a show on this. I could see it. Maybe tonight? In the grand scheme of things, it was an important show.
