FS: Oak LaScalas -- cabs by HDBRBuilder

Back in 2003 I lucked into a pair of Oak LaScala cabs built by
HDBRBuilder. They are really quite lovely and almost one of a kind as
Klipsch never built the original LaScala in oak. There is a story
behind these... Andy built two pair of prototypes oak LaScalas in
consideration for the possibility of building oak LaScala replacement
cabs. I was able to acquire one pair and built them up with drivers and
finished the cabs. At the time, I expected that they would be the last
speakers I ever bought, but then acquired a pair of Khorns and the
LaScalas have been sitting idle for 2 and 1/2 years. Late this spring
Tony Reed put three coats of poly-crylic finish on this and they look
fabulous, IMO.

I apologize in advance that I don't have current pics to post
immediately. I expect that I will have some next week and will be
delighted to show them off then. For now, I will post some pics from
earlier on in their life, and with the exterior of the cabs finished
completely, they look better than they do in these pics. Thanks to Tony
Reed for his professional finish work.

These LaScala cabs are actually better, IMO, than factory spec.
HDBRBuilder built them using techniques that the factory could never
afford to include in production LaScalas. Thus, the cabs are stiffer
than original factory LaScalas.

I am offering these to the forum at cost. My desire is to recover my expenses. An itemized list of parts is included.

Price $1903. or make an offer!

850 cabs pair

258 K-33 pair

100 K-401 pair

200 K-55-V pair

150 CT-125 pair

200 BEC Type A w/4500hz mod

145 shipping for parts received

1903 TOTAL

The buyer is welcome to pick these up or to arrange shipping. I
would be willing to consider delivery, by arrangement with the buyer,
within indefinite radius from Little Rock.

Feel free to post questions or contact me by e-mail if you would like to buy these.

The rear of the cabs are "autographed" by HDBRBuilder with serial numbers 001 and 002.

please note: the cabs are currently loaded with the CT-125 tweeter and BEC type A crossover (on a cedar board w/4500hz mod)

if the buyer would prefer, the cabs can be loaded with K77 tweeters
(square or round mags) and equipped with Klipsch factory AA crossovers.
These type AA crossovers have been recapped by BEC and made to be user
convertible type AA or type A. Same price on alternate tweeter and
crossover option.

some pics from 2003, doghouse and bass bin interior has been finished, outer cabs just stained. They have since been finished with Tony Reed's professional touch, three coats of poly-crylic.

note: some of these pics show a grill cloth, held on by velcro dots. Currently they do not have velcro dots or grills. Grills are not included in the sale.

Gorgeous!

You know, if I ended up with those, my wife (who doesn't care for things made of wood) would want to paint them.....

sigh...it's a good thing that her positive traits outweigh her desire to paint all things wood.

If I could swing the logistics of getting them to VT those would be mine. I asked Andy years ago about the other set of Oak cabs he built. I really just need one for my center channel to match my Oak Oil Klipschorn mains. I would even sell my rear Klipschorn's to use those in the rear they are so nice.

Those are super nice!

I don't know, I've always figured that people who are serious about Klipsch should be willing to take a trip to pick them up. I had to drive 70 miles for my Klipschorns, and that's each way! I was exhausted afterwards but the trip was worth it.
