edwinr
What can I say: "Initially introduced in 1959, the Cornwall speaker was designed to serve as a larger, full-range alternative to the Heresy when used as a center channel speaker between two widely spaced Klipschorns. When it was discontinued in 1990, there was an outcry from consumers resulting in a letter-writing campaign and even a petition to bring back this storied loudspeaker"

edwinr
The Spendor SP100 is an evolution of the award winning S100 and S100P loudspeaker systems. The S100 received the prestigious French Diapason d'or award in 1993, whilst the S100P was the recipient of the Japanese 'Component of the year' accolade in 1992. The SP100 combines an enhanced S100 cabinet together with the drive units of the S100P. An uncommonly good loudspeaker, the SP100 might look old fashioned, but the sound is to die for... edwinr
Spendor and Harbeth speakers tend to feature smallish, "lossy" cabinets, are generally flat through the critical portion of the midrange enabling them to maximize accuracy of tonality and timbre, offer not a whole lot of action under 40Hz, and come with a very gradual taper of the high end, resulting in a 'natural' rather than zippy or expressive overall presentation. British monitors tend not to grab their listeners but to please and satisfy them, especially those familiar with the sound of real instruments played in a live environment. They wear extremely well over time and tend not to be traded in or sold very often. There is some guy on Audio Review who reports that he has a photograph of his Spendor SP 100's on his desk at work... Here's a pic of the Harbeth Monitor 30, 2nd from the top being the Monitor 40 which features in my top 10 list...

edwinr
Try this pic. Apparently they took ten years to design - and looking at that ultra weird circular acrylic horn I'm not surprised. They are the Ferguson Hill FH001 speakers which are claimed to be the world's first ever front horn loaded dipole loudspeaker. According to the maker the horn design, high efficiency and omission of crossover lead to a very expressive sound stage...

edwinr
This is a nice system. edwinr
Soliloquy's flagship speaker, the model 6.5, is superbly built and is excellent value for money. The Soliloquy 6.5, at 53 inches tall, 10 inches wide and 15.5 inches deep, is a big speaker and puts out some serious bass with a -2dB point of 23 Hz...
