seti
I have been doing research on veneers lately. One request would be for the veneer sellers to also show complete sheet views. Today I found some interesting veneers from Treefrog. Not all is to my liking. I still prefer the more natural but these are interesting. http://www.treefrogveneer.com/
oldtimer
The Salsawood looks familiar as a tropical. Weak wooded tree as I recall. Not that it would matter as a veneer.
fenderbender
Staring at the coffee burl bubinga would give me a flash back.....not saying that would be a bad thing []
jtnfoley
With the right grills some of the woven stuff would be a trip (perhaps on a set of beat-up heresies, for starters!) http://www.treefrogveneer.com/woven_woods.htm
Groomlakearea51
Looks like some of them are made like the old "rambling rose". These are not an actual wood species; they were made from linear cut birch, walnut, etc. which is then dyed with specific hues/colors, re-glued into alternating color layers and then rotary cut into the respective veneer types to achieve the effect. Recent examples are handles on revolvers, and gunstocks. Notably Ruger used this type of wood and was oftern called "cocobolo". The dead giveaway is the colors, of course. Neat offerings!!! I'd like to see a photo of the "rambling rose" Klipschorns (cannot remember who has them) and then compare it with the treefrog sample #1 to see if it is similar. That would be (so would some of the others) a "sexy" veneer to do something.

Better not let me catch you redoing the Wall of Boudoir in that stuff.......better yet ...don't let your wife catch you either!!! []

Marshall,Are you saying they weren't cocobolo but a manufactured/laminated grip? Bruce
Groomlakearea51
The wood species was cocobolo, but they dyed the product to make those very pretty "colors". Taurus also used that type of wood.
