  3. That looks like a great deal for $150.00. However, equipment that old usually needs a refresh by a competent tech to make is safe to use and to restore max. performance. Still, I think the reel-to-reel is probably worth a few hundred alone. I say if you don't mind shipping some units out for refurbishing and cleanup, to go for it.

  6. Welcome to the forums. Several years ago, I had Polk RT-800 mains, CS-300 center and FX500 surrounds. I was pleased with the sound until I purchased a pair of Klipsch CF-2's. The clarity & detail blew the polks away so I immediately sold them and bought a KV-3 center. From there, there was no turning back. I even demoed Polk's high end LSi series and still did not feel it came close to the sound I achieved with Klipsch. As far as version IV vs V, take a look at my RF-7 vs RF-7ii vs RF-83 thread. It is not a night and day difference between those three but they do sound different. If you are comparing RF-62 to RF-62ii, I doubt you will hear much difference at all. It really depends on what is important to you. If you don't mind used speakers, you can get some unbelievable deals (ie RF-7ii System: the Best Deal of My Life). I've always preferred the sound of the RF-82 and higher speakers. The smaller drivers of the RF-52 and RF-62 just didn't do it for me. If you are patient, you can get a killer deal on some killer speakers get more than you ever dreamed you would own.

  7. Ron, What horn do you have? The 400 or the 401? If it is the metal horn, you can place a small bag filled with sand on the top side of the horn flare. Won't hurt anything and it would help to damp any ringing on a large portion of the horn. Or put in a bag of ball bearings. Any mass to damp the horn. You find out quickly and easily if it makes a difference and it's easily removable. Bruce

  8. Cool! Post a pic when you can. You can probably sell the Rodgers amp to recoup some of the cost. Bruce

  10. Haha...actually I think the only speakers I've ever purchased from an elderly couple was the Cherry RF-7, RW-12, RS-35 and RC-35 I bought earlier this month. Truth is that there are just a lot of families needing money in Florida due to the economy and speakers and audio gear are non-essentials.

  12. Nice horns. Seriously, you need some more gear in that room. Looks a little sparse.
