  1. This is what I run in my two channel setup as well with two Chorus ll's. It made a big difference in my system due to my living room being 20x30 with 18 foot ceilings and opening up to a kitchen.
  2. I've been looking forward to this movie the most. I will go get it today!
  3. Like Youthman said, it's a five second delay waiting for the handshake to connect I guess. It's no big deal to me. Sometimes it's less than five seconds, it just depends.
  4. I have no audio dropouts using Directv. The only problem I have is the delay when switching from blu-ray to directv or to xbox but even so it's something I can live with.
  5. The wife didn't go for the two channel in the living room?? Just think of the youth leadership meetings with some Kari Jobe or Hillsong playing in the background! My wife turns on our living room system and plays Hillsong on Pandora via Squeezbox all the time. I can understand the TV thing, lot's of garbage that I don't want my child exposed to either. We did away with a living room TV as well.
  6. I'm looking at this for my room - http://shop.emotiva.com/collections/processors/products/xsp1. I have the USP-1 and it's a solid pre-amp so this has to sound good. If you're looking for a pre/pro then this is not what you want, this is just a pre-amp. Edit: Nevermind, I just read your post again and you're looking for a pre/pro. I have two UMC-1's and while I like them, some people find them a little too finicky for their taste. The problem is that no other pre/pro is anywhere near that price point.
  7. Everything I have read about the JTR's is positive. There is a post somewhere at AVS where a guy switched from Revel Ultima Salon 2's to JTR's and considered it an upgrade. There are a few shoot-outs where the JTR's came out on top of some pretty nice speakers as well. They are big and not very attractive but they just might sound pretty good. I'd like to listen to them sometime but that might be easier said than done.
  8. Band of Brothers is awesome. IMHO it's quite a bit better than Pacific.
  9. Nice! Pretty cool to put a face to a forum member.
  10. I thought it was OK. The audio/video was good but the acting was lacking.
  11. Yes, Jade Designs also builds several other well known higher end brands for other companies as well. Some people are happy to spend more money. It's been proven in market research that most people feel better about spending more money even when they aren't getting a better deal.

    Emotiva XPR-5

You know, you're probably right. I was just excited by the new gear, love the look of it but I have quite a few other things that are more important. The TV has made a huge difference, much more than the amp would. Thank you sir! It's a blessing!

    Emotiva XPR-5

No I did not. I picked up a Sharp 70" LED 847U instead lol. This is still on my list but I have to buy a crib and some baby furniture first lol. I have a little girl coming in December so need to take care of that and THEN I can figure out what's in the budget.
  14. I have not heard the RF-63's but I know that the RF-7/RF-7 ll would have a larger sound and more impact. I don't think a lot of people realize how big the RF-7 tweeter really is. That gigantic 1.75" driver is almost as big as the big commercial drivers.
  15. Very cool, although like the others I'm very interested in the equipment being used.
  16. I guess you "can" bottom out anything if you try hard enough but using the same subs pushing them all equally with the same material the Empire is the only one that didn't. The Ultras are very nice no doubt about it and picking one up for $1350 is a heck of a deal...
  17. IMO the Epik Empire is in the top 2-3 on that list. If you're looking for a bottom feeder then there are better options but for a sub that does it all and is one of the best at music then Empire is it. When they did these tests they said the Epik Empire was the most musical out of the bunch and it was also the only sub they couldnt bottom out. Count in the fact that it's only $799 and you can buy two for the price of a lot of these other subs, it's a no brainer. Two Epik Empires for $1600 is about the best bang for the buck out there IMO. It's the route my friend and I went after lot's of research. I have heard the Paradigm at another buddies house and it's a very nice sub as well but the price is just silly. The single Empire actually out does the SvS Ultra from 63hz on and you can buy two for $400 less than the Ultra! The Elemental Designs is a very good buy as well. It was number two on my list when i was looking.
  18. Congrats! I can't wait to order a pair myself, hopefully by the end of this year! Please post pics and reviews once you have them up and running!
  19. Very nice! You can't go wrong with the JVC, that's what I'm going with hands down when I make the leap! Looking forward to seeing pics when it's setup! I've been seeing some really good deals on Ebay for the JVCs.
  20. I have not had the chance to hear the KL650's but by looking at them and reading the specs, I don't see how they can handle music as well as RF-7s can. I would "assume" that the KL650 has an edge in HT and RF-7s have an edge in 2 channel.
  21. Awesome news, glad to hear it!
  22. Quick question Chris: I was reading the specs on the TAD 4002 and it says it's frequency response is 600hz to 20,000hz. Do you lose from 400-425 to 600 if you cross over at 400? What is the price difference between the TAD 4002 and K69?
  23. Sorry to hear you're having so many issues with the UMC. Both of mine work pretty much flawlessly after the latest firmware updates. I did have some drop outs with the cheap little Directv box but upgrading all of my boxes to the nice DVR boxes that record fixed that. As far as shipping it back to Emotiva, call them and they will sell you a very cheap lable to print and then ship it back. I only paid $33-$34 to ship my XPA-2 back which weighs 90+ lbs boxed so the UMC won't be much at all.
