  1. You need to go to the spec sheet on the Yamaha and see what the frequency range of the LFE output is. You will probably find it is only a low fequency signal.
  2. A miniature Klipschorn clock / radio / MP-3 player would be a very cool item. With a real working folded horn and real wood veneers like production. They would be perfect for a kitchen or bedroom. But they would have to sound better than a Bose Wave radio
  3. One time when playing in a golf tournament something along these line happened to our group. There was one particular hole where two crows roosted in a tree next to the green. When the golfers would get out of the carts and go to putt, once crow would land on the green and make all kinds of noise as a major distraction. The other crow flew down and raided the golf cart taking unopened bags of chips, cookies, and other assorted goodies and flying them up into their nest. All the guys in the tournament had box lunches, basically all the same. By the time we had it happen to us, you could clearly see a big stash of items up in their nest. I actually saw the crow break into an unopened lunch box (disposable) steal the chips and fly them up to the nest. Pretty smart with the tag team action
  4. Gary, Well said. Proof of what you say can be seen if you go a Dead concert these days. It took 2 musicians, excellent ones albeit to replace him (Jimmy Herring and Warren Haines). And that is to just come close. Jerry was an unbelieveable artist in a lot of ways. We all have our problems. I'm glad the world doesn't know about some of mine. It's got to be hard to have your personal life disected. I will always remember Jerry for the music.
  5. I am also a long time deadhead, but I don't have the Jerry doll. I still play the dead regularly and see them any chance I get. They still perform very well live.
  6. I agree that there should be no audible difference. But I always cut my wires the same length even when one speaker might be 5 feet from the amp when the other is 20 feet away. The reason is that from time to time I move the system or rearrange the room. It is purely for convenience.
  7. Geddy Lee is just too ugly...have you ever looked at him??? Actually, I love Rush and have seen then a couple of times. It is amazing to watch them play live. I have seen Geddy routinely play keyboards and sing while playing the bass pedals all at once. 2 instruments plus sing at the same time, while looking bored. Really extraordinary. Most bands can't play or write to that level. The ones that can take a few extra players to sound anywhere near what Rush can do with 3 guys. The fact they aren't in the hall yet means nothing.
  8. I always thought that the tubes warmed up rather quickly and stabilized. However, it was transformers that take the time to get up to operating temp. I also just read that on this forum. I do notice that my systems definitely warm up and sound better after maybe an hour after which there is little or no change. I thought it was the trannys, not the tubes causing this slow improvement. Maybe someone can tell me. Thanks Edit: One more thing. I know what you mean by "want it to sound good NOW". I agree to a point. But one thing I have always appreciated is listening to these tube systems actually warm up and go through their "stretching". I can't really describe why, just that I like to hear it warm up and develop its full sound.
  9. I think it is normal to see half the screws missing. In almost every Klipsch Heritage product I've opened up, the woofers only had 4 screws each. This includes LaScalas, corns, and Heresys. I think that's how the factory did it. Check that. Just reread your post. I am talking about the woofers themselves, not the bottom panel. The panels should have all the screws. Sorry.
  10. Those are difficult to come by. However, Klipsch service parts sells the next best thing called the "Jubilee Logo". It is smaller but similar. I just bought a pair ($25.00), and they are really nice. Do a search there are pictures in recent threads.
  11. Well, I missed all the info on the these supposed new updates to the Heritage series. Can someone please reiterate the details once again here and now??? Please???
  12. Dishwasher...now why didn't I think of that? I also have a pressure washer. That might be better. Hmm....
  13. My LaScala crossovers are all dusty and dirty looking. It use to be that you could buy the high pressure HCFC cleaners (R-12) and it would blow all that junk right off and make any electronics look like new. Now I find cleaners that just trickle out of the bottle and are basically useless for items like crossovers. I have cans of air that don't work either. It seems you need the cleaner and high pressure in the same can. What works best? Thanks
  14. Have you tried dialing down the cross over frequency to see if that has any effect?
  15. Another one not to get is the "William Hung" CD. You know the kid that tried to sing "She Bangs". That kid actaully got a record deal. I don't know, you tell me.
  16. Yes, they are the removable grills. I didn't know the grill cloth was glued to the front of those frames. I actually haven't removed the old cloth fully yet. I do notice that the old cloth is glued around the back of the frames all the way around the frames where the cloth overlaps (approx. 1 in. all the way around). I thought they were only glued on the back. I hope I don't have an issue getting the old cloth off. Thanks for the help.
  17. I am replacing Heresy grill cloths. What method do you use to hold the replacement cloth in a stretched position for the glue to dry. I thought of a couple of ways of doing this, but I'm just wondering how the experts accomplish this. I never did it before and the cloth wasn't all that cheap. Thanks for any info.
  18. In fact I am not at all certain it isn't actually almost zero. Max, You should be a poet. So well said.
  19. I agree with all this from what I experience too. Some days the system is "at its best" never sounding better, and other days the same system same CDs "just not quite right" and sometimes frustrating to listen to. I can't explain it. As for burn in, it is a funny thing (like Mark mentions) that it supposedly "always gets better" once broken in, but hardly ever worse. My take on that is that it is pretty darn good or excellent already when new or newly rebuilt. The period of so called burn-in is a period when changes in the sound of the system are most evident. Although I agree the system is changing continuously over it's life cycle, the most prominent period of noticeable change is the so called early use or burn-in period. Maybe we are all just conditioned to expect this behavior and and so we tend to perceive it most during early use. And maybe the sound is actually getting worse in reality if diagnosed closely, but our ears just perceive it to sound better that way. hmm....
  20. My son was almost a victim of this same scam earlier this year when he won a Paint Ball Gun on Ebay that he had bid on. Thankfully, a couple of weeks earlier news of this scam was reported in the local newspaper and I had been alerted. So we walked from the deal and no rip off happened. I am sorry Timmikid. Best of luck in solving this.
  21. Electronics Product Line Manager. Concentrating mostly in the areas of embedded software, automotive control systems, and telematics products.
  22. http://wendellfabrics.com/ You can find some great replacement grill cloth that is very close to Klipsch type, as well as some interesting options. I was referred to this place by others here and I called them. I ordered and received a folder with their product range and some specific samples I requested for no cost. Very nice people to deal with. I have cats and they do their business in the litter box. But if somehow it got on my speakers, that grill cloth would be OFF immediately. I wouldn't try to clean it. Now that is just me. Sorry.
