  1. I really liked the movie, it was definitely worth a rent to me. I will watch it again when it's on Showtime HD in a couple weeks. My wife hasn't had a chance to see it yet and she's really looking forward to it.
  2. One of my amps triggers on by either a 12v trigger or by detecting an audio signal. I prefer the 12v trigger. The audio signal auto on shuts the amp off it it goes 5 minutes or so without a signal. Once I turn my amps on I leave them on until I go to bed whether I'm using them or not, so that feature's worthless to me. Even on my 7ch. setup I use the 12v trigger. The pre-pro triggers the 2ch. amp and the 2ch. amp has a 12v trigger out to turn on the 5ch. amp.

    Schindler's List

Excellent movie, and great DVD. Whenever I hear about Schindler's List it reminds me of the Seinfeld episode where Jerry and his girlfriend were seen making out in the back of the theater during the movie. A classic nothing's sacred Seinfeld moment.
  4. I thought it was pretty good, worth a rent to me. It does seem like Jodie Foster is stuck in Panic Room mode though.

    Rave HD 5.1

I get Rave HD on my Dish. They have a few good concerts on there that I like. The picture and sound are excellent. The bad thing is they don't seem to have very many different concerts, they just keep showing the same ones all the time.
  6. I watched it on the HDNet Movie channel. I'm glad I got to see it for free. I still don't think I got my money's worth.

    The Island

That seems like an awful long winded review just for the guy to say he didn't like the movie. Myself, I'm not searching for the meaning of life when I go to the movies, just entertain me for a couple hours, which it did, so it was good by me.

    Worst movie of 2005

My vote goes to Narnia, what a load of crap. There wasn't one character in the whole movie that was the least bit interesting.

    Kong

There were a few laugh out loud lame parts in Kong, but my wife and 10 year old loved it and I was entertained so it was alright by me.
  10. While I liked the first 3 albums about the same, there was something special about the 3rd album. Whenever we were tripping it always seemed to find its way to the turntable at just the right time. The guitar on Since I've Been Loving You would always send the creeper up your spine, and make the hair on your arms stand up.

    Serenity

We just watched it last night. The movie was pretty good, and the audio was excellent. It really got the room shaking at times.
  12. I actually liked Vanilla Sky, Identity, Memento and 21 Grams. But the worst movie I can remember seeing in years had to be The Talented Mr. Ripley.
  13. That's too funny. I don't know who laughed harder, my wife or my 10 year old son.
  14. If you have a built in HD tuner in your TV, all you need is an antenna to get OTA HD, provided that the stations you get are in HD. In my area I get 2 ABC ch. in HD, 2 NBC ch. in HD, 3 CBS ch. 2 are in HD and 1 is in digital but not HD, 2 FOX ch. 1 in HD, and 1 analog only, and 1 WB ,1 UPN, and 2 PBS ch. all in HD. When you first set up your TV you will probably need to do some kind of channel search for your digital channels. But remember even on the channels that can broadcast in HD, every program isn't in HD.

    Equilibrium

I saw it a while ago. Pretty good movie, sort of The Matrix meets Fahrenheit 451.
  16. I havn't heard the CD but I have the Echoes 4 LP set and I really like it.
  17. I would leave the TV speakers off all the time. Run digital cable out of DVD player into receiver for DVD movies, and run cables from audio out of your TV to receiver for analog channels and an optical cable out of your TV to receiver for your digital channels.
  18. The HD channels are in DD. HBO East and West, and Showtime East and West are in DD. I don't have Starz or Cinemax so I'm not sure about them. The rest of the channels are in stereo.

    Pink Floyd

I was really looking forward to Pulse being released on DVD until I heard it was only going to be shown in 4:3. I will still pick it up, but I'm not as excited about it.
  20. Not all DD-EX movies are flagged to automatically play the EX. Probably at least half of the EX DVDs I have need to be manually engaged on the processor.
  21. Sony has a couple of HD DVRs, the DHG HDD250, and DHG HDD500. I've had the 250 for about 6 weeks and really like it. It records in DD 5.1 if that's the signal it gets, and the HD picture is just as good recorded as it is live. It takes cable card but I have Dish so I'm just using it for OTA HD.
  22. You're right, the source does make a difference. My DLP tv is 720p and when up converting the signal from the Denon 3910, 720p looks better to me, 1080i is a slightly softer picture. On my Dish 811 receiver it's the opposite, 1080i looks better and 720p is softer looking. My HD DVR automatically passes through whatever signal it receives to my tv and the picture is great whether it's live or recorded.
  23. I've had the Denon 3910 for about a year. I run HDMI up converted to 720p to my DLP tv, excellent picture. Hi-Rez audio is outstanding. From what I understand the video is the same with the 2910 and the 3910, but the audio is a big step up with the 3910.
  24. HBO, Showtime, HDNet, HDNet Movie, Discovery HD, Rave HD, ESPN, and a few shows on ABC, CBS, and NBC. Football is all Fox has that's worth watching to me.
  25. If you can swing the RF-7s then I would definitely get them. I use RF-5s for surrounds with my RF-7s, and they go great together. Unless they have changed since I bought my RF-5s, they use wood veneer on them, not vinyl.
