ANYTHING I'd rather snort glass shards and salt than endure that voice. Forrest

I wonder what would happen if I put a paper cone over their mouth first? Fewer germs? Woo psst.... the ears are horns, and the mouth is a horn which amplifies the action of the vocal cords.
  4. Bela Fleck: Tales from the Acoustic Planet, vol. 2 The Bluegrass Sessions Bluegrass/Newgrass/Soulgrass/darn good grass CD Bela Fleck, banjo player extraordinaire has assembled a lineup of Nashville all star lightning finger pickers.. Tony Rice, Guitar Jerry Douglass, Dobro (to name just two) Excellent soundstage, great tunes, VERY well recorded! I picked up two Steve Roach CD's based on a recommendation by Synthfreak. The Magnificent Void and Structures of Silence. GREAT meditation/taiji/movement soundscape (can't really call it music.. maybe sound sculpture?). It isn't for everyone, that's for sure, but I am getting into it. Thebes, I'm glad you're keeping this going. Woo
  5. This is a great search engine http://www.sa-cd.net/home I believe I got this from a post by Paul Parrott.
  6. Indy is better for me. (plus I wanna hear IndyKlipschFan sing) June 10 - 12 or 17 - 19. July 15 - 17 or 22 - 24
  7. Harold and Maude - can't believe no one mentioned this yet. Young Frankenstein - I was in a very bad automobile accident in June of 1975 and had to have my spleen removed. The day I got out of the hospital (was there for two weeks) my mother took me to see this movie. Fresh stitches and searing pain with each laugh, and still I couldn't stop. I'm surprised I didn't die that day. Animal House Scary Movie I

I was the only one in the sanctuary... well.. what would you have done????? Of course you would have! Of course I did !! ... had a rockin good time too until the sextant asked me to leave (after nearly an hour)! I've been back to visit several times, but now they have 'tours' and the main sanctuary isn't open like it was that day. Needless to say, they don't let strangers jam on the instrument either. good memory (sorry to hijack the thread), Woo (wanting to jam on the theater instrument in the Fox Theatre!.. don't think it'll happen, though)
  9. Since I got my khorns my TV has been all but neglected. I even let the cable subscription slide. Most every night I'm bathed by pure crystalline sound that takes me 'there'. Whether it's Virgil Fox or Baby Face Willette or Bela Fleck or Durufle or Mahler or Sonny Clark or Garcia or (insert yet unheard music here that touches me) ... I am always ending my day feeling wealthy and fortunate beyond my wildest dreams. And yes, Gary and others, I understand that place between sleep and wakefulness. I'm there quite a bit. I've often gone to bed way too late because I was always wanting to hear just 'one more piece'. Glad to know you 'get it' Fyre. peace, Woo
  10. Thanks!! I did and was successful! Woo ---------------- On 1/28/2005 3:18:21 PM Daddy Dee wrote: Woodog, Might be worth checking that again. I just looked at that on Amazon, and on my screens I went through with the checkout up until the last click and it looked to be available. If JR through Amazon is contrary, another option would be direct to www.jr.com. Also, Amazon has additional sellers below on new/used. ----------------
  11. Nah... when you get to checkout... "There's a small problem with your order... the item is no longer available". bummer Woo
  12. Topfueltom, Welcome to the forum. I also got my 76 khorns from a millionaire. You DON'T want to know what Gary paid for his. However, I think Gary has a tube amp for sale would help wet your appetite for tubes and big 'ole horns. Enjoy 'em! Forrest
  13. Well, I looked at amazon for the TEAC A-L700P, but it's gone now. I do have an SI coming in February, so it'll be interesting to hear what's up with these. Bummer that I couldn't get the Teac though. Woo
  14. Oh, I KNOW they are quality networks. You would have to be blind to miss the ravings about them. I just had no clue as to whether the price was good. Thanks for the replies. I'm gonna get 'em. Forrest

(for all y'all* in the know, if this is a bad deal, please tell me, 'cuz I don't have a clue as to price). I mean no offense to you 2day, but I'm leary about sending $$ like that to someone who has only 1 post to your name even though you've apparently been around since 1999. I'm queasy like that! So how can we set this up? thanks, Forrest *I'm from Kentuky (note the spelling)... so I reserve the right to talk like that!
  16. I'm definitely interested if they will they work for Klipschorns. I don't have LaScalas. Thanks, Forrest

I was mentioning to my secretary today that she should find a copy of Hillary and Jackie and watch it. I was struck by that film because of the way it was composed. Even though the article says it was sensationalistic, it is STILL extremely well done. Thanks for sharing this article, Mr. Parrot. peace, Woo

Edster in GA has offered to let me hear his with a SET amp when I'm down his way, but that's going to be a while... patience... " and now... What a difference a year makes!

Marvel ---------------- That would be awesome. Thanks, man. Forrest
  20. God I wish I understood this stuff. I read all these threads and look at all the pictures and live in the world of kilo ohms and micro fahrads and capacitors and pentodes and and and.... with the hope that, like a child who has been moved to France and has to exist with his/her French classmates, that I'll soon be able to speak French as well. Sigh, hasn't happened yet. Forrest

Whats are peoples views and experiances on this topic?? ---------------- Well, when I recently picked up my Klipschorns the fellow selling them to me had them powered with a 70's era Yamaha receiver (I'm guessing 80 wpc) and he wanted to impress me with how loud they would go. And LOUD he went! REALLY harsh, edgy & bright (he also had them connected with 22 guage wire). Got them home and hooked them up to my rebuilt Scott (a NosValves job) and it was all luxury. However, this was ONE type of Klipsch speakers in ONE particular room with ONE model of Yamaha amp. An interesting aside... he also had a pair of Tannoy speakers that I bought, also hooked up to the same amp, also with 22 guage wire, but they sounded much more reasonable. Still not great, but certainly more forgiving. I have to think that if the guy had had the right kind of amplification for those babies (now MINE!!) he probably wouldn't have let them go so easily. my .02, Forrest
  22. A fellow at my church gave me a DVD to listen to this week, and today I put it on. I'm a classical/jazz/acoustic mostly kind of fellow, and this was progressive rock.. but MAN!! really really good. They had the khorns pumpin! Dream Theater: Live at Budokan. Really well recorded, EXTREMELY well played music. Their bassist is an amazing player (out of a group of 4 incredible players and one gifted singer). I had never heard of this group, but they are amazing. C 2004 Atlantic Records 6-034-970366-22 www.dreamtheater.net
  23. seriously, depending on condition, your location, etc, etc (pictures would be nice) $450 - $900. You can probably sell them here if you wish. Have you listened to them? You might want to keep 'em. They are awfully fine... and you got 'em for FREE! Forrest
  24. $250 dollars, tops. I can have the money to you today. Forrest
