  1. Not sure what kind of money you're willing to spend, but there are several programmable and even touch-screen remotes out there from Philips, Harmony, etc... Have you wandered by www.remotecentral.com? They have lots of info on all the various remotes.
  2. Re 4seating.com.... I have no opinion one way or another, I just remember reading about them over at AVS Forum. You may want to search this forum (http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/forumdisplay.php?f=32) using 4seating as a search phrase and just do some reading - formulate your own opinion.
  3. If you're looking, contact Roman ("rsh" in this thread: http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=660081) - he's a Berkline distributor from whom I bought 7 chairs with motorized recliners for a very nice price. The other brand in that thread (Coaster) is popular with budget-conscious folks, as well. However, they don't offer some of the goodies the Berklines have.
  4. Does the Velo x-over act on signal going into it via the pre-amp inputs? If so, perhaps it's filtering out the bass below the x-over point making the Belles sound livelier since they're not producing the low bass any longer? Yes, you could "Y" the pre-amp outs of the HK.
  5. I actually went there (as in drove to it, looked in the windows one evening, and got back on the road). We were on our way home from the 1st Klipsch pilgrimage, in Hope, and we stopped to see it - had 3 Heresy's in the back of the van. I think I have a picture of that around here somewhere. Anyway, good times with Ross Taylor...
  6. Keith - Couldn't agree with you more. Now, where IS that Academy I bought for $2000....(although it is an outstanding center speaker regardless of its timbre match...)
  7. I think any system with those names in it that you can get for free is an awesome system. However, don't hold your breath for too many responses - this is pretty much dedicated Klipsch country so most of us have likely never heard the speakers/sub you are talking about. However, we'll see Nice parents, BTW...
  8. I have a few of Lanz's CD's. His piano always sounds amazing through Klipsch speakers. I'm a big fan of the version of Whiter Shade of Pale which features the original keyboardist from Procol Harum (sp?) playing the organ. I believe it's the version on Cristofori's Dream.
  9. Meagain - You guys did a great job on that rack. The ol' TNT Flexy Rack, eh? I built a tall version of it and I love it - infinitely adjustable and stronger than all get out (I used 3/4" threaded rod rather than the 5/8" but I think it's overkill...) http://www.tnt-audio.com/clinica/flexye.html
  10. First choice is another Quartet - get creative in your thinking and see if you can fit it in. Nothing will sound better. Next up is the Academy - can be spendy, but well worth it. It's an awesome center speaker, and was specifically designed to match your Quartets. Only available used. The speakers you mention are not really designed to match the Quartets. The ones you have in the rear are less critical than having a matching center, unless you're doing multi-channel music (like DTS music, DVD music, DVD-A, or SACD). The question is, can they keep up with your main speakers - they will be less efficient than the mains, so can you calibrate your channel volume settings adequately to balance the sound output on all channels?
  11. I dunno - I think Noah's got you beat for sheer volume of water...
  12. Your post was fine Sometimes they slip through the cracks - we're a smaller community than other forums you may be on... Go old school - there are some awesome 2-channel solid state items from the "golden" age of SS in the 70's. Several on here like the old Harmon Kardon x30 series with the twin power supplies in them - 430, 730. They can be had on Ebay for reasonable sums. Also some of the 70's Marantz units (with the cool blue lights on them) and the Pioneer SX-xx series (SX-780 for example). Also, see this thread: http://forums.klipsch.com/forums/thread/709876.aspx
  13. Uh, Sixcats, don't rest so soon. Corvette6769 above your last post said the Chorus II were far superior to the KG4's in every way. I will echo that. I have a pair of KG4s and a pair of Chorus I. As mentioned, the KG4 is a fine speaker in its category. However, they are not in the same league as the Chorus. There is no comparison - the Chorus is, IMO, superior.
  14. " Since I am in the process of showing my ignorance in this matter, I may as well ask one more question. Does a 5 channel amp know what is connected to it? The ones I have looked at all have dedicated Left, Center, Right, Left Surround/Rear and Right Surround/Rear outputs. So, do I have the option of running one amp for my needs?" Your amp could care less - that's just labeling to make it easy. You could connect 5 different sources to the amp and 5 different speakers in different rooms and it wouldn't know or care. It's just going to take whatever you connect to an input channel, amplify it, and output it on the speaker posts associated to that input.
  15. Are you using a projector? If so, how about placing the center speaker behind the screen (with a suitable screen, of course)?
  16. I just watched that last night, and thought the same thing (similar to Lock, Stock, etc...). I enjoyed the movie, but alas I found the English accents a bit tough to follow so some of the plot intricacies escaped me. Good movie, though!
  17. "Anyone have a similar story or experience?" Yeah, it's even better when you measure the picture in feet rather than inches (like 10' diagonal)...
  18. There was a recent thread similar to this but I don't recall the title of it. If you can, search for Philips DVD 963SA - it's a great CD/SACD/DVD player. No longer sold new, but you might find one used.
  19. I do not believe the KLF series are shielded (except for the C7 center). If you get distortion, move them away from the TV to avoid damage. You could install "bucking magnets" onto the drivers to shield them for video use. You may still be able to order them from Klipsch (800-KLIPSCH). Failing that, some speaker supply places may have them.
  20. How about one each of an Acurus 200x3 and a 200x2? You'd get over 300wpc with those, and could be had used for probably less than $700.
  21. If you have a chance to try a more powerful amp with the Forte's, you should. It might be the cure you're looking for. Many amps don't really deliver their rated output with all channels driven - I imagine your Yamaha is the same (nothing against it - most HTR's don't). I was using my Denon AVR rated at 110wpc to drive my Fortes. (I have no idea what it really delivered with all channels driven.) It sounded nice. I then inserted an Acurus 200x3 (which is bench tested to deliver more like 300+ WPC) and it took the bass to a new level - much more authoritative.
  22. And I don't think that receiver ever sold for more than $1k brand new...
