  1. The bass on the Forte will astound you - deep, strong, rich. However, no true home theater can get by without a subwoofer - to hit 20hz and below with authority takes a dedicated tool. The ideal center channel is another of the same, so if you have room for another Forte in the center, perfect. After that, the Academy is the best center, then possibly a KLF-C7. Surround choices can be many - sonic matching is not quite as critical, unless you're going to be doing multi-channel music listening (DVD-A, SACD, DTS concert videos, etc...). Again, more of the same is great if you can - 2 more Forte's in the rear. Or you could use Academy's for surround also, or surround-designed speakers that are dipole/bipole/WDST - various Klipsch models may work and others will have better input. (I have Forte's in the surround positions.)
  2. I have 3 Acurus amps, and I sure like them. A 250x2, a 200x3 and a 200x5.
  3. How does it sound to you? If music/movies sound lively, robust, etc... then you're fine. The power ratings on speakers really have no correlation to how powerful your amplifier should be. Most of the time you're only using a handful of watts anyway (remember the sensitivity ratings?). The extra power is needed to handle transients which need more power for that extra ooomph.
  4. RB5's: http://cgi.ebay.com/Klipsch-RB-5-RB5-Mahogany-Speakers_W0QQitemZ330234728615QQihZ014QQcategoryZ14991QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
  5. If you don't get a response here, look over at the AVS Forum (www.avsforum.com). In the audio receivers/amps threads I believe there is an 8,000 page thread or something on these units. This was addressed in that thread, but I just don't recall the differences. I think they had to do with how they handled auto setup/room EQ, and a few other things...
  6. Aaron - Welcome aboard. I too am a fan of Forte's, although they are now doing rear-speaker duty in my HT after I replaced them as fronts with Chorus speakers. Re the pre-amp, I think you might also want to look at the Integra 9.8 or Onkyo Pro PR-SC885 (essentially the same units with a couple minor differences). These have been getting rave reviews for their price/performance and they handle all the latest audio and video formats....
  7. A third Chorus across the front would be ideal. After that, a Forte. Can you find a way to use any of them? If not, the above suggestions for a C7 or Academy are good ones.
  8. Connecting them in parallel will approximately halve the impedance - if they are 8ohms now they'd average about 4 ohms connected in parallel. You'd want to be sure the Pioneer is OK with that kind of load.
  9. Perhaps you could put in a few outlet boxes with blank faceplates, strategically placed, giving you options as to PJ placement...
  10. Granted it does not have the portability of satellite radio, but I'm a fan of Internet radio. I recently added a Roku Soundbridge to my 2-channel system in the living room, and can directly tune a gob of stations over the Internet, many with no or very few commercials. I can also manage the interface from my PC at www.radioroku.com. Sound is very good! We have some good local stations in Denver metro area, and many are available on the 'net. Not sure what your tastes are, but KBCO and 93.3 are two I like.
  11. Just a heads-up that right now the Digital Video Essential Blue Ray calibration disk is on sale at Buy.com for $16.99 with free budget shipping....these prices typically don't last long there. http://enews.buy.com/cgi-bin5/DM/y/nnIc0Hm6VV0Nb40CNMY0Gz
  12. ASD is not an authorized distributor, AFAIK.
  13. And I could buy 5 "regular" cables for the price of a single Monster. (not sure if you were kidding, buckster, so pleae don't take offense...)
  14. Onkyo Pro offers the PR-SC885 which has processing out the wazoo. It handles the subject formats via HDMI. Be aware that not all high-definition players will pass DTS-HD MA.
  15. Can you fit an RC-7 center?
  16. You'll like it, I guarantee it! I bet, though, once you play a PS3 game your PS2 games won't see much screen time, especially if you have a big screen.
  17. Might be worth checking the woofers to see if they are actually Klipsch brand. I've seen used Klipsch speakers where a PO installed non-Klipsch replacements. Your comment about poly-foam surrounds makes me wonder...
  18. Get the KV-3 if you can find one, and if it fits in whatever space you have alloted for it. Don't go for a KV-4, though, since it's not a match for the KG4.
  19. I used a KV-3 (only available used) with my KG4s as the center speaker, and it worked great. I needed "typical" surround speakers so opted for the now-retired SS-1's, and they were fine also.
  20. DTLongo - Have you looked at a Playstation 3 versus the player you bought? You'd have to compare all the features/differences to be sure it works for you, but I like having the PS3 as it's so easy to upgrade via the Internet, it has very advanced capabilities, plus it plays games to boot. Downside is the remote is a Bluetooth, so you can't use your Pronto/Harmony/etc....
  21. That stinks. Does that infer that it can't be done at all, or just with Adobe? Not sure that's true. I have Acrobat Professional and all I have to do is open a PDF file and then "Save As" and I can convert it to many file types, including Microsoft Word. Coytee - Feel free to email it to me and I'll take a quick shot at it.
  22. I can answer one question - the PS3 uses HDMI 1.3
  23. Broke a heat record yesterday (74 degrees). Today it didn't get over 25, got 6" of new snow on the ground, and a blizzard warning. Variety is the spice of life!
