  1. By the way I am currently building 3 crossover networks based on the schematic CANT provided. Just waiting on some more parts so I am living this with you bro.
  2. The schematic that CANT posted is my one crossover that doesn't look like OEM because there is no PCB. My other six have the autotransformer, polyswitch and resistor.....don't know why. One says KPT-904M-B the other six say KPT-904M. Do you have an xilica or access to one?
  3. Will ask. I'll get better pic's of the crossovers then. Might not be till this weekend. Thanks Dave.
  4. Wierd. Mine were made in 99 as well and it seems like there are multiple crossovers for the 904's.
  5. Dave what year were your 904's made?
  6. @Dave A Not sure if it's OEM since we bought the KPT-904's used, but the pic I posted above has a sticker on it marked KPT-904M-B. The pic below (which we have 6 of) is just marked KPT-904M. I am currently building 3 new crossovers based on the one pic above (KPT-904M-B) and off the scematic. I ran REW on both crossovers and found the M-B "THAT I HAVE" is 9db hotter than the M "THAT I HAVE". But what confuses me is that on the schematic, there is no resistor, autotransformer or polyswitch. I prefer the M over the M-B crossover but because the graph is smoother, but my brother-in-law wants his 9db hotter on the HF since he might put a screen in front of the horns.
  7. @Dave A I only have one KPT-904M-B crossover and it doesn't have the polyswitch.
  8. Funny, I am a big guy....guess I'm just a (fill in the blank). Lol. Either way, if the OP isn't going to moving them much and not taking them for gigs on the road, then why not the 904's over the 396?
  9. I found it easier to move the 904's than my Chorus II's. If you have two people the 904's are easy to move because the ports give you something to hold on to. Moving the Chorus II's with two people is still a PIA.
  10. @hornsofplenty, Welcome to the forum. I would recommend looking at what ChrisA has done and read up on his topics and posts. I actually went ahead and purchased a Xilica as well. I won't be playing with it for another few weeks due to some personal matters....but the posts and topics I've read of his convinced me to go the active route. It's not cheap but will be a great tool later if I decide to change my gear out. Which will probably happen since I can't leave well enough alone.
  11. My palate isn't to sophisticated, Costco Kirkland tequila works for me😀 @blissann I bought a Margaritaville machine a couple years ago used for $100. Found it on either Offerup or Letgo in perfect condition and saved a couple hundos. Might wanna check there.
  12. Thanks everyone. I'm not on social media, to busy. This is the only place I come to so we appreciate it.
  13. Just got the Xilica in, but it’s going to sit right there for a few weeks. My wife was just diagnosed with some bad stuff inside her that needs to be removed now! She goes in for surgery this coming Tuesday. We are praying the doctors get it all. So she’ll be my priority for a while until she gets back on her feet. Until then I’ll buy some new crossover parts for my brother in laws KPT-904’s and work on them when I have some downtime. If anyone has a minute, please say a prayer for her if you think about it.
  14. Forgot to say that I'm building these for my bro-in-law. Want to suprise him but he might read this before they're built. He's a Klipsch forum stalker. He reads but never posts! I'm going active!
  15. Hey all, I'm rebuilding the stock crossovers for the KPT-904's with what I think are better than stock parts. I could be wrong though, trying to keep cost in order. The big change I'm making is ditching the iron core inductors for some air core inductors. The problem is I cannot find a 3mh air inductor that matches the given spec of the crossover network. The schematic calls for a DCR of a max .8ohms. I can only find either a DCR of .93 or .708. Which would work best and what would these values do over stock? Also, I was thinking about using Dayton Audio Polypropylene capacitors, yes or no? Thanks, Jason https://www.parts-express.com/erse-30mh-18-awg-perfect-layer-inductor-crossover-coil--266-838 http://www.erseaudio.com/Products/FoilQCoils16Gauge/EAF16-3000
  16. @Emile Thank you for the pic. It will come in handy. @CANT You are pretty dead on with your estimate. By the way, could I get that schematic from you? Any Idea why the bass bins run a little hotter with the KPT-904M-B? Red: KTP-904M Blue: KTP-904M-B
  17. With all that hard work you put in I'm happy everything came together for you both. It looks great! Time to enjoy!
  18. Long story short for those who don't know the story.....My brother-in-law and I picked up 7 kpt-904's that came out if a movie theater. We've gone through them and now need help! The crossovers are confusing us. - (6) have crossovers marked KPT-904M -(1) is marked KPT-904M-B -The (1) KPT-904M-B crossover would lead me to believe that this is the bi-amp version. But then why is there a crossover if it needs an active crossover? -Why does the horn coming off the KPT-904M-B crossover sound like the highs are hotter and Crisper over the KPT-904M? -Why do these crossovers look different than one of the replies posted here of the KPT-904? -I don't want to assume here, but on the KPT-904M-B crossover, are the extra set of binding post so you can daisy chain bass bins? Would that mean if I hooked up the HF to the extra speaker posts that I'm sending the full frequency to the CD? -If it is the bi-amp version why is there a crossover at all when it will be controlled by the active crossover? -All bass bins say KPT-904M on the outside of the terminal cup by the way. I know I have a lot of why's to be answered but this doesn't make sense to both of us right now and we could not find any info on how to hook these things up. I try my best to research before asking. Thanks for your help in advance!
  19. Funny, since I couldn't buy your amp I bought a new XP-8080 for th 904's. I guess I had to buy something!

No problem boss. Just wanted to keep my promise that I would buy it if it didn't sell within two weeks.
  21. I've got a set of B&W 805 Matrix if you are interested. https://www.kenrockwell.com/audio/b-w/matrix-805.htm

@Westcoastdrums Is today the day I buy this?
  23. Not reversed. Again from just a single speaker this is reversing the compression driver Is it my imagination or are you right? I did not know you had to reverse the polarities on these. I bought these used so I wonder if anyone has done anything to the passives.
