  1. You should try a P-trap on that K-55-V Atlas driver. Made a difference in my '79 Corns. I also did the new caps and caulk.

  3. 'Iron Giant' was a favorite with my kids for a long time. Unique antimation style and Good sound effects too.
  4. "Also, that horn is just too UGLY. " Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder
  5. ".I wonder if the HF section of a cornwall couldn't be improved more by going another route (say beyma 25 tweeters or a different midrange driver)." Not just the midrange driver, how about Altec 511 horns?
  6. I watched the local NBC channel using the OTA tuner in my Mit, decoding the sound with my Klipsch DD5.1. Sounded great. The DVD obviously won't have the picture quality as the Hi Def broadcast, but the sound should be good (hopefully).
  7. Listening right now in 5.1 Heritage HT! Three Cornwalls and two Heresys here. Sounds pretty good. Great hi def picture too.
  8. "Probably stairs in the 17 - 25 corner" smuttynose, That is correct. The 17' dimension is not really a wall, but a boundry of the area that also includes an opening for a hallway (I did'nt feel like drawing a stairway and the hallway).
  9. Here is the layout which is all open space. I moved the Khorn in corner A to corner C. There is actually a stairway along part of the 25' run, so the longest straight wall in the layout is 16'. This seems like a minor change when looking at the layout, but it made a huge improvement.
  10. I was a freshman in college when that Dire Straights album with "Sultans of Swing" came out. It made a lot of Dire Straights fans, including me. I saw them on the Brothers in Arms tour, and although the acoustics in Reunion Area sucked big time, they put on a good concert. They had a unique sound and while perhaps not a masterpiece, MFN is a fun tune and I still like to crank it up once in a while.
  11. Wow, what a difference! I moved my Khorns from the 12 ft wall to the 16 ft wall. I had been trying for six months to convince my wife that this would sound better without sacrificing the balance of the décor in the living room. She finally caved in (after all it is her living room) and even she noticed the improvement in the stereo imaging with the wider separation. Aside from the narrow spacing, the previous arrangement was also creating some bad sound reflections that caused harshness in the mid range (I think from the angle of the vaulted ceiling reflecting back down into the listening area). The new arrangement has significantly reduced this effect. This was a huge improvement with the only investment being a rainy afternoon spent moving furniture around .
  12. Larry, No problem, space available. I'm arriving from DFW on American. David
  13. My flight arrives at 1:21 pm on Friday. I am tentatively planning on renting a car (weekend rental is inexpensive in Indy as I recall). I'll be looking for something to do for the afternoon, so if any of you local guys have any ideas... Since I am arriving relatively early on Friday, I can pick up later arrivals at the airport if needed. We can coordinate when the time gets closer. I'll also post my cell phone number just in case. My flight on Sunday does not leave until 6:20 pm.
  14. "So what do you guys think... are we a conscientious planned part of the Klipsch Marketing team... or just a lucky coincidence? " Klipsch's launch of this Forum was pure genius. We are being unwittingly manipulated by Klipsch as we participate like powerless pawns in this Forum, which is obviously the center piece of their word of mouth assault on the public. We are so gullible. (Just Kidding) Actually, I think the fact that Klipsch decided to provide such a Forum reflects their core values established by PWK himself. Whatever marketing value that it has resulted in is well deserved, but I highly doubt it was a part of some grand marketing scheme by Klipsch.
  15. I have two of the MFSL LPs that I bought over 20 years ago, Styx Grand Illusion and Rolling Stones Some Girls. Although I thought then that they were better than standard LPs, apparently I did not think that they were worth twice the price. But then I had a fairly average Technics / AudioTechnica TT. Now that I have a much better TT, I wish that I had bought more when they were readily available.
  16. I'll be putting my recently aquired Altec 511s in my Khorns.
  17. My eyeballs are exactly 11 ft from the front of my 65" Mit. I had more than one saleman advise me to get the 55" because of my room size. I'm very happy I did not listen to them. Base on my experience, go for the next size up from what the "experts" say
  18. Maybe we will only get to hear them behind a screen, but not get to actually see them
  19. Awesome set up! Congrats on the Khorn procurement. Now if you can find a vertical Corn for your center speaker ........ .....

  21. Rick, Hopefully things turn out ok for your father in law and you can make the trip. It won't be the same without you. David
  22. In this forum you have three types of people, ........ ----------------------------------------------------------- Come to the Pilgrimage sometime and meet some of us in person. You would likely not be so judgmental.
  23. Tom, Neat photos! Priceless memories no doubt. Your son is obviously proud of that great looking car. My son (six years old at the time) and I built a cardboard boat for the annual cardboard boat race at our local lake last summer. Our boat capsized, but we finish the race -in last place- and had a blast. Those memories will last a lifetime. David
