  1. Google for Bob Crites on the web, forum member in Arkansas, many after-market components for Klipsch speakers.
  2. Watched first half of the video last night, really great. Mark is so talented and seems like a down to earth kind of guy. Tonight the wife is out with friends so listened to Sailing to Philadelphia CD/DVD-Audio disc with basement setup, Fortes, Denon 2900 disc player, HK3300......I'm ready for the second half of the video now!
  3. Welcome to the forum! You'll love the RF-35s, been running them since 2004, movies, music, they have a great sound. The matching center for the RF-35s is an RC-35 if you come across one used. Enjoy!
  4. Bob - You might try the owner of Disc Doctor cleaning products, he has stuff to clean specifically old style records and may also have some insight into your concerns for what to play your old platters on. Also, Needle Doctor may have some info if you hit someone who has that specific knowledge.
  5. Email update from Acoustic Sounds spotlighting "New Arrivals" shows Heresy III among the various items. Digging a bit deeper on their site under "Speakers" shows multiple Klipsch products, including Heresy III. Not sure if they have any of these available to hear in their demo room. http://store.acousticsounds.com/c/34/Speakers
  6. Happy for you and your family!
  7. Check out this YouTube video, it's a hoot. Also enjoyable viewing.
  8. Yes, one of my fav movies. Had a couple grandkids last weekend, aged 4 to 11, and they all watched the entire movie. I have the disc with the widescreen version on one side and the regular format on the other side. Also has a music, only, selection that is really cool, alternate versions of the main theme if I remember correctly. Warner Bros. 1013. Paper sort of a case, not even a plastic case, I'm sure there are other versions and packaging. Great movie.
  9. Tom, welcome to the forum. I have the ProMedia 2.1 setup in my basement for computer duty. On the other end of the basement there are a pair of Fortes driven by a 110 Watt Onkyl receiver. Problem is, the Fortes are under the kitchen and my wife is less than happy to experience my music in her kitchen. ProMedia 2.1 to the rescue! Various streaming music from the internet, they sound great, sub fills very nicely. Wife happy. I'm happy. Win win! Enjoy.
  10. Oh man! Now I want to hear Telstar, Wipeout and Pipeline......used to practice those for hours as a teenager. Great memories, thanks for posting.
  11. have you tried connecting a completely different set of computer speakers to your PC to confirm the problem is the speaker system? I have this system and occaisionally have to re-seat one of the cables connected to the speakers. Also, had static in right channel for a couple days recently, which sort of cleared up when I reseated that connection. They have a great sound, so far my issues have been transient, hoping for couple more years of good sound!
  12. Couple thoughts. Are there any firmware updates available for either unit, if applicable. Have you checked forums for Onkyo users?
  13. Hey Wayne, that's way cool!!! Makes those teenage years worth it, eh? Larry
  14. Well that's pretty cool, getting a reply from Abbey Road studios! Also found another tidbit online: The digital files were cut to lacquers at Abbey Road Studios. Engineer Sean Magee cut the LPs in chronological release order. He used the original 24-bit remasters rather than the 16-bit versions that were required for CD production. It was decided to use the remasters that had not undergone "limiting," a procedure to increase the sound level. That sounds encouraging.
  15. From what I can find on these, they are using the digitized remasters from the stereo CD's released in 2009. Will be interesting how they sound with digital back to vinyl.
  16. Cool stuff! What disc player are you running? Does it have the DVD Audio (DVD-A) capability? The DVD-A playback can be awesome, while the regular DVD player capability is a very nice feature. Try Mark Knopfler "Sailing to Philadelphia", it comes DVD-A disc plus a CD.
  17. Local FM classic rock station. Sunday night program plays entire albums. CD's tonight, sometimes vinyl. Now playing the Yes album Next up is Fleetwood Mac, Bare Trees. http://www.kshe95.com/
  18. Ravi - Best to identify which speaker you are referring to. Assume you mean the passive rear speaker, which is exposed without a grill to cover it. Otherwise, the main driven speaker is the front woofer behind the magnetically attached grills. I have removed the passives from a pair of Forte II's. The main issue I noted was that the speakers were apparently installed without tooling to control the location or angle of the screws used for the installation. If you must remove the rear passive, take care to preserver the rubber gasket under the speaker and note how to re-install it to match the manually drilled mounting screws since they vary in location, angle, etc. Assume the other speakers and horns have similar mounting arrangements. Someone recently offered some rear passives on this forum, not sure if they are available from Klipsch, suggest you contact Klipsch customer service via email.
  19. That's great! Around 50 more months for us, can't wait! Thought you would get a kick out of this link...........these were not "certified funds"....... http://abcnews.go.com/Business/mass-man-pays-off-mortgage-pennies/story?id=16726959
  20. Wayne, sounds like you came out on top with this deal! I remember the "old" Cornwall room with your two channel setup, tubes and TT (Rega Planar?), I'll bet it sounds great. Keep on Keepin' on brother!
  21. Friend at work showed me this, sounds great with my home Pro Media 2.1 system. There are several previews, this should wet your appetite. Top Gun, Korean style.
  22. I bought my first Klipsch speakers in the fall of 2003. When I auditioned them at Ultimate Electronics, my choices were RF-7, RF-35, RF-25 and RF-15. Could not afford the RF-7's. The RF-15s did not do much for me. The RF-25's had a sweet sound but I kind of liked the size of the RF-35s. Asked the wife if she thought the RF-35s would work in our family room, expecting her to say they were too big but the RF-25s would be OK. She thought the RF-35s were all right so I grabbed them and they are still there today. On balance, the RF-35s were the better choice for me. They rock. Later I bought an RC-35 center and R-5800 in-walls for rears (surrounds, but in my family room, the back wall is the only option for surrounds). This system seems to be well matched for timbre. The RC-35 seems to be well matched with the RF-35s across the front and with the R-5800s across the room. Long story short, my experience is that the RC-35 is a very nice center, and matches well with RF-35s. Perhaps not such a good match with the RF-25s, which had a different sound than the RF-35s. Any chance you could listen to RF-35s with an RC-35?
  23. KT Tunstall, Eye to the Telescope. Great CD, sounds great on my Forte I's.
  24. Thanks for the responses, I'll research forum "hits" for likely topics.
  25. I'm probably being over cautious but figured someone would know the answer to this. Considering using this product on Heritage Walnut Oiled (WO) speakers. Anyone know if unfinished wood on the Murphy's label means like Birch - Raw from a Heritage perspective? Seems like the walnut oil based stain would act as a sealer, but I'm concerned that the product directions do not define what unfinished means. If perhaps "finished" means coated with lacquer or poly, then I don't want to use this stuff on my oil stained walnut veneer. Also, can this product be used on the front and rear of the speakers, the parts with the black paint finish, no stained veneer? Thanks for any experience using this product.
