  1. So, why bother to place a bid? Wouldn't he be better off just contacting the seller and making a private offer?
  2. I doubt anyone would recognize this engine.
  3. So, are you saying that the seller cancelled the auction early and sold them to emichaels0_0 under the table for $400, or what?
  4. I auditioned both and ended up buying the RF-3II. Both are good speakers, I think it all comes down to whatever sounds best to you with your favorite music.
  5. I think it would be a good idea to tell your friend that you simply need the money, and if he can't pay up then he should give you back the TV. The problem here is that if it really does break down, he'll probably never pay you for it. Why wait for that to happen? Sabotaging the set is dumb.
  6. Is this SED technology real yet; i.e., does Toshiba have it in production? How would /does it's picture compare with DLP?
  7. Yeah, kj5dj is right. The B&M retailer and the buyer are the only ones that may be getting screwed. If someone is buying gray market without a warranty they better be getting a great price or they're pretty stupid.
  8. I had a pair of L100s about 25 years ago. They were great rockers.
  9. Do you mistrust your wife? Are you insecure in your relationship with her? Do you have low self-esteem? Unless you can't answer NO to those questions, I don't see why you are worried about this. Personally, I could care less about what any of my wife's old b/fs thought or did. You'll never know anyway, and what difference would it make if you did? And even if other guys did 'tear it up', so what? We all know it doesn't wear out, and I've always found a little experience always seems to be better than none at all. Don't act jealous and insecure, it only makes you look like a wimp.
  10. I think you're onto something. As long as you use Monster interconnects with the SACD player's connection.
  11. I couldn't find the Jenga but I ran across a bag of wooden ABC blocks. I tried them out and it is unbelievable. The presence, warmth, and definition I am hearing now are hard to describe. I highly recommend this tweak. By the way, I have noticed through experimentation that you should not use vowels in the front of the cabinet. Only put consonants under the front. In the back, it doesn't seem to make any difference.
  12. I bought a pair of mint RF-3II speakers about a year ago for $300. I think i got a very good deal, but I have routinely seen them sell in the past year for $400/pair on ebay and other forums. So I really don't think you're getting an "awesome" deal. And the center channel RC-3II goes for about the same price. If you want to save some money just shop around a little.
  13. We'll overlook anything as long you post those Angelina pix occasionally.
  14. Yeah, that was a great game. Congrats to Texas, they deserve to be #1. I agree that Vince is awesome. And probably will be a great NFL quarterback, until someone does a knee job on him.
  15. Check the two channel forum. Someone posted about some RF-7s on the Minneapolis Craigslist for $1,000.
  16. Best of luck to you in your quest, whatever the goal may be. Sometimes you've got to step back to see the forest instead of the trees.
  17. Jeff,Without actual SPL measurements, what is "loud" to person A could be quite different than what is "loud" to person B. If meagain's source material does not have extremely demanding peaks in dynamic range isn't it possible that at the volume levels she finds acceptable, that her receiver's amp is capable of providing all of the required power?
  18. There are of course some closed-minded fanboys here, what else would you expect at a Klipsch website? But I also think that there are a lot more open-minded audiophiles than you would apparently suspect. I have owned at least a half dozen high end speakers of various brands and currently own Klipsch, but I know there are better sounding speakers than mine out there in the world. But for the money and the kind of music I currently listen to, I think that I have pretty much optimized my solution.
  19. I saw an interview with the Eagles where they stated that it was just a word they made up to fit into the lyrics.
  20. I agree with most of the folks that it's not a great idea. BUT, if you have no other choice, get some of that foam insulation that comes in sheets and put it on top of your sub. Then put a piece of plywood or something hard on top of it, and put your rceiver on top of that. The foam will absorb most of the vibes and the shelf will keep the receiver from sinking into the foam so that air will still circulate underneath it and not cause any overheating issues. Just my .02....
  21. Wow, over 7,000 posts. You've been on the board a little over 3 years. So if you averaged just 3 minutes per post, which is probably low, that's 21,000 minutes = 350 hours. At a rate of 40 hours/week (standard fulltime job), that's roughly 9 weeks total, or 3 weeks/year. So, my question is if you have been spending roughly 3 weeks/year on this board, what have you been neglecting?
  22. I bought a 13" Philips TV a couple of years ago. Somehow there was no owner's manual in the box and the store was useless so I contacted Philips. They wanted $15 to send me a new manual, they didn't have anything available online. I think it is a scam. The TV never worked right and I ended up tossing it. No more Philips for me.
  23. Michael, Just curious, what is the subject of this photo? And where did you get the photo of the Honda Fit?
